Default Module Revamp.....

I've been thinking of trying "Armies of the Night". For T2013, change the World Trade Center to the memorial, construction of new building and adjust for nukes. Police arms would be G19, P229.

I don't think that would work (depending of course in what year your campaign starts). In the canon timeline, the World Trade Center would still be standing, I would think.

Never mind...I don't read your full post...

Funny thing; I was just referencing the 1995 issue of Handguns Magazine's Annual. I kept it because it had three really good articles on training programs in it. It also has another article by Ed Sanow about the guns of the NYPD in it. In the article; As of 1994, The NYPD had the following guns authorized by unit (for those in the original timeline):

Patrol Bureau/Detectives Bureau/ESB/Harbor Patrol
G19 with the NY (8lb) trigger, 9mmP (15 shot)
S&W 5946 DAO, 9mmP (15 shot)
SIG P226 DAO, 9mmP (15 shot)
Berretta M92D DAO, 9mmP (15 shot)
S&W Model 64 .38 Special(6 shot)
Ruger Service Six .38 Special (6 shot)
Ruger GP-100 .38 Special (NYPD special order 6 shot)
Colt Detective's Special DAO .38 Special (6 shot)
Compacts (for backup/off duty/ Detectives)
S&W 640 DAO .38 Special, (5 shot, 2" barrel)
S&W Centennial .38 special (5 shot, 2" barrel)
Ruger SPNY (.38 special version of SP101, 5 shot)
(1997)Kahr K9 (8lb trigger), 9mmP (7 shot)
Transit Authority and Housing Authority police use:
Glock 19 with NYPD+ (11 lb) trigger, 9mmP (15 shot)

I know that by the 21st Century, The NYPD has authorized all of the compact 9mmP Glocks as well as the G17 and most likely several other striker fired or DAO 9mmP automatics. The .38's should be very rare by 2013.

For DAO guns, I would reduce the rate of fire from 5 to 4 per round. The long heavy trigger pulls of DAOs result in a longer "reset time" for the trigger mechanism. This is actually measurable with an electronic timer. There isn't even a half-cock notch; So one cannot even "start the hammer back" by pulling the trigger and then thumb cocking the spurless hammer for a lighter trigger pull.

Long arms of the NYPD include:

ESU & Harbor patrol:
Ithaca M37 12 gauge pump, (4+1 shot) with rifle sights and 20" barrel
Ithaca M37 with 4+1 mag, Rifle sights, and 13.5" Barrel (ESU ONLY)
Mini-14 Rifle in .223 Rem (like the M16A1 it can use M193 ball BUT NOT SS109/5.56N)
Remington 700 (M24) in .308/7.62mmN with X6 Leupold Optic (initially) and later a 3.5X by 10X Leupold MK4 (later).
MP-5A3 SMG, 9mmP (ESU only)

I have heard the NYPD now uses M4 Carbines with Optics but could find no proof of such.

The Detective's Bureau is only authorized (removed after 1997?) the
Stevens 311 double barreled 12 gauge in 12" and 18" lengths.

Hollow point ammo was authorized in 1997. This was only after several bystanders were injured in a number of shootings where the 9mmP 115 grain ball overpenetrated. This led to the adoption of the 115gr Hollow point. I have no idea what they use now (115 grn, 124 grn, or 147 grn HP)

Hope this helps you properly arm your LE.

Swag.

Swag.
You came through there, M4's with optics sounds like an ESU thing.

I know that the S&W 5946 is still authorised for NYPD use as it's the weapon of choice for Danny Reagan in Blue Bloods.

TV/Movie guns are often not the same as IRL issue. None of the agents in Criminal Minds one of my favorite shows, carries FBI issue weapons -- most of their Glocks are 9mm when they should be .40 Smith & Wesson, and
Dave and Hotch carry 1911s of some type.

I believe pop mech has a full online archive for free, so I don't see an issue with it.

Don't forget the following:

1. From my obsession on the other thread, NY has an active state guard.

2. Not familiar with Twilight 2013 canon but the NY National Guard is fairly robust and includes 42 ID Division Headquarters.

3. Non-state actors

4. Foreign Intelligence Services

I left out the National Guard and State Guard as this thread was just on law enforcement, NY also has a Naval Militia too.

The old New York state militia marked M1911 command high prices, only 200 were ordered. Most of the module's ethnic partitions can stay, RW taught us that hasn't improved. There should be more gold, most of Fort Knox was transferred there years ago.
