U.S. Army 1980's
I figured I would start a new thread considering the amount of information I am finding

It looks like that chart is from 1986/87 and it also lists the Berlin Bde as 199th |

It makes me wonder. There is nothing in the lineage of either bde that shows that actually happening though. I wonder if there wasnt a plan to reflag the Berlin Bde because the bde had no combat history something similar to the School Bde/6th ADA Bde being reflagged to 30th ADA Bde and it didnt happen because the cold war ended. maybe it would have happened if the bde had transformed to AOE configuration?

Chief of Staff Army Total Army Analysis 1992 Force Program Decision Briefing
https://emu.usahec.org/alma/multimed...025463I001.pdf Apparently the Army did one of these "Program Objective Memorandum" biennially for review by the Office of SECDEF. Again the above document should be read in conjunction with this: https://history.army.mil/html/books/...H%2040-1-1.pdf Chapters 1 & 2 |

Chico, please I hope you do! I have the researcher at the Ridgeway Library looking for a 1989-90 version. I’m also looking for an updated, again for 1989-90, force allocation chart.

Also interesting is the 199th uses the infantry Bde symbol and not mech Bde. Another is Indiana was scheduled to get an SF aviation battalion. |

So,
Has anyone ever done a comparison of the 1989 NATO and PACT forces to their in-game assignments and how does it compare to this info at the army's historical website archive? |

When I get back to the office and a full-sheet scanner I'll get a nicer version done, including the notes on the back. Enjoy!

Thanks Chico! Keep it coming! Does that chart also have the Brigades on the back ?
I recently bought this book and it is excellent .... https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 The author served in 3 ACR, I was told by him that the 3 ACR's POMCUS stock was in Kaiserslautern at least until 1984, which jives with the Force Allocation chart showing 3 ACR being CAPSTONED to V Corps. I also found this, one page paper, unknown date, regarding POMCUS. I am figuring late 1980's.....Chico, Shrike your thoughts ? |

Love seeing posts like this Chico as one of the big problems for writing is to get the Orbats right if you are trying to go back in time and get a realistic unit set up - i.e. versus just picking designations and such out of thin air

Thanks everyone, it took hours to go through.......
Quick question, if you notice in FY92 the activate a Mech Bn in Louisiana. If you look at 156th Infantry's lineage, a separate 4th Bn existed from 1991-93. Does anyone have any idea who it was assigned too? |

To hazard a guess, 50th Armored Division. Maybe 36th Brigade since it only had 2 armor battalions. I base that off a GAO report that Louisiana lost a battalion of the 50th AD in 1993.

Great spot @Shrike6! I just looked it up and NJ lost two Mech Bns Sept 1 1991
So this must have been to replace at least one. |
