Morrow Project Ranks??
I've been thinking about Morrow Project ranks...
We know that the ranks of Team Leader & Deputy Team Leader exist in the main books and the modules and that a Science team leader outranks a Mars team leader, and that Mars Team leader outranks a Recon Team leader.. And in some of the modules some of the speciality teams even outranked Recon Teams. But what about Bases and other facilities? I've been working on an idea for a prelim rank structure, but want to hear what others think first. I will say that my prelim concept for project rank had to do with a persons security clearence. The German and Russian Navy had multiple levels or grades to the rank of ship's Captain that depended on the type of ship they commanded (Ship of the Line Captain, Frigate Captain and Corevette Captain for the Germans, and First Grade, Second Grade and Thrid Grade for Russians). We could easily do that for the 'rank' of Team Leader to cover the differences between the different 'grades' of teams. So... what do the rest of you think? what do you guys use for 'rank' in your projects?

I do this because there is nobody else to do it right now. Believe me if there was somebody else to do it, I would let them do it. There's not, so I'm doing it. |

Morrow Leadership
I think that your idea is a good one. The only hierarchy I remember seeing was in Desert Search and Prime Base. I have to dig out the rest of my books to review them for leadership levels.
Maybe we could use the U.S. Military ranks? If you are familiar with the David Weber/Steven White Starfire series books, we could use a variation of the Orion command structure. In that series, you had a "thirty-fifth fang" who was senior to a "fourty-second fang". Just a thought. |

This is what I had originally considered..
The highest rank I had was the rank of Director that would come in grades, each grade would coorespond with the level that the director would hold... National, Regional, State, COG. Then you had the rank of Team Leader that also came in grades that corresponded with the level that the team leader holds in the chain of command of the COG they are assigned. Then you have the rank of Deputy Team Leader that i don't think wouldn't have been broken down into grades... Then you would have the 'ranks' that would be dependent upon a person's jobs/duties that would each have three grades that also correspond with a persons duties inside the overall structure of where the team falls inside of the COG.. Supervisor (Chief Supervisor, Senior Supervisor, Supervisor) Operator (Chief Operator, Senior Operator, Operator) Technician (Chief Technician, Senior Technician, Techncian) Trainee/Recruit (two grades of Senior Trainne/Recruit and Trainee/Recruit) I had thought of a modification of old naval ranks since they are based on very 'functional' operations. Team Leader (aka Captain) Deputy Team Leader (aka Lieutenant) Chief Petty Officer Petty Officer Leading Specialist Able Specialist Specialist Omega Level Secret (single grade used for the project's national leadership positions only) Ultra Secret (regional / national project directors) Top Secret (regional and state level directors) Secret (state and COG level directors) Confidential (the rank and file project members) I had wanted to go with a color level for security nomenclature as well based on the seven colors of the visiual spectrum that went with these various security levels (violet as the highest and red the lowest)... I just haven't been able to get everything to link up yet. The ideas of the nomenclature for the various grades within the security levels (from highest to lowest) that i've thought of using has been... 1st Grade 2nd Grade 3rd Grade 4th Grade 5th Grade

Here is an expansion of what i posted yesterday...
The rank of Director would be divided into grades kind of like this... Project Director (the person who is THE director of the entire project) National Director (handles the day-to-day operations on the national level) Regional Director (handles the day-to-day operations on a regional level, and sits on the project board-of-directors to orchestrate the operations of the project) State Director (I had considered calling state-level as Divisional or Departmental, any suggestions) District / Combined Operations Group Director Team Leader (aka Captain) Deputy Team Leader (aka Lieutenant) Chief Petty Officer (Chief Supervisor or Senior Supervisor) Petty Officer (Supervisor or Senior Supervisor) Leading Specialist (Chief Operator) Able Specialist (Senior Operator) Specialist (Operator) Technician Trainee / Applicant Team Leader 1st Class () Team Leader 2nd Class () Team Leader 3rd Class () Team Leader 4th Class () Team Leader 5th Class () Deputy Team Leader Chief Supervisor Senior Supervisor Supervisor Chief Operator Senior Operator Operator Chief Technician Senior Technician Technician

I have come across several governmental structures which followed the Region->Sector->Division structure. The only problem I see is the odd sound of "Sector Director" when you say it out loud. |

how do you guys handle the project communities that where established in those areas that where suppose to weather the storm as it were and be used as the core of the reconstruction efforts of the project?

I've been thinking of the rank insignia for the Project... i've got an idea for something simple that would be easy to recognized. I have thought of them being one to three rectangles that would be in gold, silver or bronze. this would give the project nine levels of rank that would have an insigian and could easily cover everything from the national director right down to supervisors.

Alpha, Beta, Gamma, Delta and Epsilon are my grades/ratings, with B.E.M. having Alpha-One rating; the Commander of Prime Base having a Gamma-One rating; while the commander of a group, farm, supply base, etc would have a Delta-Two rating. Team Leaders have Epsilon-One ratings, and 'rank and file' team members have Epsilon-Two ratings. As you can see, there are ratings in between these but I think you have the idea of what I do and how I do it. Cheers! Travelelr
