Default What was the Objectives of the Third German Army in 2000.

Okay I guess the question that should be answer now. What were the operational objectives of the Third German Army in the 2000?

Was NATO looking simply to clear the Baltic coast of Pact Forces as how things ended seems to be what the objective was. Yet, it left the main body of the US XI cut off from the rest of the Third German Army. What more puzzling are why the 8th Mechanized Division made it relative intact to Baltic States when compared what happen to the 5th Mechanized Division.

Now was the XI Corps being used as sacrifice to get the Soviets to the table to talk about relative terms of a peace treaty. The XI Corps was it suppose to stay so near the coast? Or did things break down so badly that the main body got bogged down helping the 2nd Marine and while that happen the Corps Commander lost command and control over the 5th and 8th Mechanized Divisions effectively losing control of depending how look at things third to half of his force.

In one of the Modules with guards to the B Troop of the 116th. I believe they were going to be given orders by the staff of the 5th Division, by people who knew of the Special Forces A Team that was in support of their Operation Reset. This explains why the 5th was heading towards Lodz. They were cover for a smaller force going after specific target.

Yet after the Team had made it grab where would they with the 5th Mechanized and B Troop do? Would they head north or would they more less stay put to secure the area for hopefully the rest of the US XI Corps to have a large NATO force set up to raid the trickle coming through Soviet lines of communication?

One of the things GDW keeps mentioning over and over. Even though there was no peace treaty, by after 2000 Soviets more or cease active operation in Europe even though it still considered itself at War still.

I'd say this aspect has been discussed quite heavily already here http://forum.juhlin.com/showthread.p...erman+III+Corp
Since writing my assessement of the offensive, I've found a little more information but nothing that changes the main points (basically just that the British look like they were intended as a reserve rather than being assigned a position on the front lines).
