Default Federal US Government Law Enforcement Agencies...

I've got a question... just how fast would it take for CivGov to combine all the Federal Law Enforcement Agencies that have overlapping areas of authority?

What would the federal government's alphabet soup look like by T2k?

I see the US Marshal Service actually being the only federal law enforcement agency that wouldn't be suffering from getting forced into merging into any of the other agencies. The USMS is consitutionally mandated, something that the FBI and BATF just doesn't have... someting that could see the US Marshal Service acctually absorbing other smaller agencies.

And the return of the roving US Marshal patrollig their given territory... or even given extra powers so that they can chase criminals across state or national boundries in a manner similar to the Canadian Mounties of old.

In my setting the spilt between CivGov and MilGov wasn't something that the average person knew about... they knew that their was two heiarchies that dealt with what the conditions were like where you lived.

MilGov was sections of the Country that was still under martial law, while CivGov was those sections of the Country that was under civil law because they didn't get nuked or invaded by outsiders.

Comparing the two 'camps' was something that many a citizen would talk about. With CivGov, you feared being sent to the overcrowded FEMA Camps, or you feared CivGov showing up at your family farm and first say "Nice Farm... here are 300 men, women and children who are to help you plant and harvest crops. We'll be staying with you in your home to help you keep the Dee-Pee labor in line." Because it could very quickly become the FEMA 'observer' deciding he doesn't like the way you manage and run your farm and just take over running it. It's still technically legally yours, but you are living in one of the rundown outhouses while the FEMA guys are sleeping in your bed, eating your food and making your life a living hell."

While MilGov is operating under martial law, using the UCMJ (tempered with the Constitution) as the law of the land, with roving MP Provost Martials acting in a manner like the US Marsahls Service of the Wild West... right down to using his platoon of MPs backing him up. And once you're caught, you're taking to the stockaide where you're held until a miltary tribunal/court can be established to try your case... an if convicted, punishments are either hard labour for the majority of crimes, with execution being reserved for crimes like, desert, cowardness in the fact of the enemy, treason, rape and murder.

* Dee-Pee (a D.P. or Displaced Person)

The suriving US Territorial Guard units would be something i've bene trying to figure out how'd they be used after the Mexican invasion.

I see the Milgov using a force very similar the United States Constabulary (1946-52);http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/US_Constabulary; only instead of using soldiers; it would use the various Local, State and Federal Law Enforcement Personnel, including US Army and State Guard MPs.

That's pretty much what i was talking about... the local and state police would still be doing the same pre-war jobs of public policing D.P. camps and surviving communities. the only difference between CivGov and MilGov for local and state law enforcement would be the personal protection details for CivGov 'Officials' and 'Overseers' at various work camps and farms.

I really like the work done about the "People's REpublic of Boulder" on the Twilight 2000 wiki... THat's the kind of New America that is being dealt with in my campaign. CivGov has the Big Government is right and has all the answers, while MilGov is more along the lines of everything is screwed up... we need to set up a new census, and arrange for new elections as soon as possible to elect a civilian government. While MilGov doen't show video of the shootout on the floor of congress, it's pretty much an open secret.

And that the Joint Chiefs of Staff's primary missions are:

1.) Protect and Defend the United States Consitition against all enemies foreign and Domestic. 2.) To uphold our oaths on protecting our nation by expelling foreign invaders. 3.) ensuring the safety of America citizens so that a new census can be carried out so that new represenatives can be elected to both houses of congress... and the election of a new president.

In my campaign the Thanksgiving Day Massacare (well, my game it happened on 4 July 2007 and was called the Independene Day Massacre) didn't kill the presidnet... but it did cause a spilt between the Executive Branch and the Legislative Branch. The Speaker of the House and other majority leaders in both houses of Congress started all kinds of shinanigans. Longtime members of Congress got fed up with it, and actually 'defected' to the MilGov camp which is composed of the majority of the suriving members of the Executive Branch (the unelected burecrats in some Departments swore their loyality for Congress).

CivGov does not like the fact that MilGov is holding a cenus that is composed of asking three simple questions. "1. The number of people in your family/Household. 2. Please list the names of each member of your family/household with their age/birthdate, place of birth and SSN (if you have one). 3. please list the Occupations and professional skills of everyone in your family/household."

no questions on race, gender, sexual orientation or pollitical affliation. and when asked about question three, they are told that it's optional... but would really help the country know if there are any doctors, nuclear engineers or the like in the area that can help their community rebuild faster.

I have been working on a series of mini-articles of some of the ways my campaign is different from T2k (basially the chagnes in the world from 1989 up to the start of the Sino-Soviet War in August 2000 and the Euro-Soviet War starting in October 2003. and nuclear exchanges starting in July 2005.

In fact the US Constabulary would be dealing with helping provide law enforcement for the Civilian Communities, and roving Military Judicial detachments (composed of a military judge of the rank of MAJ and two Adovcates of the rank of CPT) that are mobile courts of law and justice.

I had thought about something happeing during the Martial Law being delared.... something that Cyberpunk players would recognize very quickly, the "Uniform Code of Civilian Justice" that would be alot like the UCMJ.

The US Territorial Guard is a uniformed service that was created in my campaign that was loosely patterned off the West German Federal Border Guard to create a land-based version of the US Coast Guard that would take over the duties of the US Border Patrol, Airport Security and the US Forest Rangers (namely their Search and Rescue and Wild Firefighting duties). And like the USCG Non-Commissioned Officers had limited law enforcement powers.

The USTG was created in the early-1990s after a rise in Illegal Immigration and drug smuggling overwhelmed the local law enforcement and boarder patrol units. Namely, something similar happened that is happening IRL right now. One of the Drug Cartels killed a newly elected US Senator and his family who were on vacation and had stumbled upon the smuggling operation that had saw some human trafficers dealing with the deadbodies of some of the illegal immigrants who died from heatstroke. The cartel didn't know they killed a US Senator and his family until the news media went nuts covering the US Forestry Service and Border Patrol prefroming an all-out search and rescue with the help of the US Army, US Navy and US Air Force.

When everything came to light the American people demanded something be done for border security, search and rescue and other kinds of things that the Coast Guard does... but wanting it to happen on a land-based nature.

OK, what did we do wrong? If it's the Homosexuals in the Military thread, then Web, remove the entire thread, and any such posts that crop up in the future. That's my recommendation.

Sorry to see you go, Nate. I really am.

I will not be called a bigoit, a racist or a homophobe ANYMORE. Not when I have friends and FAMILY who are african-american, openily homosexual and am involved in the TEA Party and other equal rights organizations. I am fed up with IDOITS who cant understand the fact that I am telling them NOT JUST MY FEARS but the fears of Openly Gay men and women who have watched their lifes work RUINED by radical extremsists who have taken over their movements. That they fear that these kinds of extremists would 'act straight' just to get into the positions of power an authority, because THEY witnessed it happen on more than one occassion and in their oppinion put everything they had done back. I told people about a LONG history of actions that had happened for over a 20 year period and got nothing but being called a bigoit for it after stressing OVER and OVER and OVER again that i have no problem for openily gay people serving in the armed forces. That the problem is that someone is making a political issue over something that is a private matter that is no ones business but those of an indivial, their partner (or partners) and God. And when the person insinuating that I'm a big is one of the moderators I can do nothing but leave the community because when someone who does that has power, it always ends up with that power being abused.

Nate, IMO you're totally overreacting. Raellus hasn't accused you of being a bigot. He's also apologised to you in the other thread. I hope when you're not quite so upset we'll see you posting again. If not, be well my friend. You'll be missed.

Just as an aside, the word "Federal", as is in the title of this thread, is on the "hot word" list of most US government intelligence and law enforcement agencies.

Do you ever wonder how often these guys visit this site and look around?

I think both of us have been on watch groups for a hile paul... you because of your website with all the stats getting reported by some loon that it's a blackmarket clearinghouse for all kinds of weapons (because the stats all has prices). Me because of being a Disabled American Veteran who's Pro-Choice (i Choose Life), am a member of both the American Legion AND the Disabled American Veterans (the chapter meets right around the corner from my apartment complex eery month at the Golden Coraal). And the fact i wrote an adventure for PCs who are special operations warfare operators dealing with sneaking into a terrorist compound to rescue some peace corps workers, and it was written in a way that it read like the flow charts...
