OT: My low MEC or INT score
Today I'm feeling that if I were a v1 Twilight: 2000 character, I'd have an MEC score of 10 and/or an INT score of 4. My son has grown to the point at which I have to adjust the straps on his booster seat. No big. I have the manual. I couldn't find the section in the manual addressing adjusting the fit of the safety straps, though my wife now assures me it's there in the small print at the end of the manual (not mentioned in the Table of Contents. Who edits these things?) I ended up taking the whole thing out of the car and into the house where I could freely move about the parts. After some experimental pulling of all parts of the safety straps, I realized that there is a rotary catch in a compartment in the front of the seat right above the strap that is pulled to tighten the safety straps. Duh. After removing the cover of the seat, I finally spied a little silver lever that releases the rotary catch so I can get some slack. The entire seat cover does not need to be taken off to access to latch; the cover just needs to be lifted off its hooks so a person with a bit of common sense can release the catch. From start to finish, a job that should have taken all of thirty seconds took about 45 minutes. I suppose the one good part is that I'll never forget how to get slack in the safety straps. Since my little guy will be in the seat for a while yet (he's small), and since my little girl has yet to get into a booster seat, I can tell myself that I didn't just waste 45 minutes of my life being brainless. Did I say a MEC of 10? Make it 5.

Sounds like you've got exactly the same seat as I was using with my kids. they love to hide those little details away from you don't they?
