I've always wanted to do that, nut never actually had the players meet one (or more). As Criminal Minds is one of my favorite shows, it would be fun to have a PC group meet the Criminal Minds team.

Hunter S Thompson and his Attorney would make for a great set of companions for a player character group.

I think this can be a lot of fun from a role playing point of view. Sorry if this was already mentioned but anyone remember Tom Petty in The Mailman? That movie was dumb but I really liked that touch.
Anyone play Civ4? I think the Great Person concept could be applied to celebs with outrageous capabilities. |

If Canada had an Airborne Regiment in 1995 historically, then it would have undoubtedly had Airborne forces in 2000.

Don't forget Dale Dye, a Vietnam service marine who has a military school for actors(he played the Captain in "Platoon, the general in "Falling Skies" and a lot of other roles). Wings Hauser was a Canadian Vietnam vet as well. Both have done enough stuff that most people would go," I know you!"

I actually did this in my game with my teenage sons and they ended up loving it. My scenario takes place in 2030 (revived Russian empire) and we started with a very basic campaign in Iran in 2027. They were rotated back to the states where they attended the infamous Dain Dangerous concert in Boston from canon. Because one of the PC's was an Irish-American boxer from Boston before he was drafted, he was recognized by the Dropkick Murphys (a favorite of my sons) during the band's opening set/reunion concert and the PC's were brought on stage and recognized for their service in a "we hate the war but support the troops" sort of way. The action part of the session was the riot that ensued after the police raided the concert and their Forrest Gump-esque participation earned them NJP once their leave was over. They were then attached to an NYNG unit to bring relief supplies into NYC after the riots. I added that "Governor Derek Jeter" was counting on them and they got a kick out of that also.
I think it's a great way to set the tone and bring humor just so long as you don't overdo it. |

Perhaps we could have a go at some more 'modern' celebrities; those who would have been in their teens or early 20s when the war went down?

May I suggest a change to Patrick Swayze - my additions are in quotations and please take and leave as you please: A licensed pilot, Swayze flies a F-100D fighter assigned to an air militia unit flying from Wyoming and Colorado air strips. "He flew one of the last F-15's as an ANG pilot after joining the Colorado Air National Guard in late 1997. He was involved in a dogfight over SW Colorado with several MiGs and was forced to punch out after shooting down several enemy aircraft. He was recovered by an insurgent force that consisted of several high school students calling themselves the "Wolverines." While he was eating a can of baked beans around the Wolverine campfire, the leader of the band, a 17 year old named Chris Hemsworth (an Australian exchange student and starting quarterback at Calumet High School) asked him how he 'got himself shot down.' Swayze responded by saying "It was five to one, I got four", and the insurgents accepted him into their band. The Wolverines sacrificed several group members in order to get Swayze across enemy lines during one of the last major tank battles in the Rockies. Swayze then returned to active service with the famed 'Buffalo Cowboy' squadron, flying Vietnam or Korean War era aircraft against the invading Mexican and Soviet forces." "Since this experience" he has scored six kills, downing a pair of Mexican MiG-21Ms, a Mirage 4000, a C-130, and two UH-1s. "This total of 10 downed enemy aircraft makes him one of the few double aces of the Free America Air Militia" |
