Default 25x Image Intensifiers

For 25x Image Intensifiers, does anyone have any idea what the designers had in mind when they listed these things? I can't find anything in the US inventory that quite works. I've seen all manor of explanations on various TW2K sites, from LLLTV imagers, to Norwegian made add on optics for regular binoculars.

Any idea what these were supposed to represent? Thanks!!

My best guess what we would call a "spotting scope". If Binos give a general magnification of 4x, then a large spotting scope would be closer to 25x.

Maybe some kind of fancy digital binoculars, like the ones in Star Wars? In '84, it had to seem like that kind of tech was just around the corner (for military use, at least).

Yeah, but V.2 lists these as having a maximum range of 900m. So that seems a little weak for a spotting scope.

I think Raellus may be on to something. Someone saw star wars and came up with this crazy invention. lol

lemme see the issued bino's i had were 10X not 4x.
25X i would guess would be the LRAS3 and the new FS3 both are vehicle mounted.

Not a problem! If they have AT-ATs, we just need some clothesline to wrap around the back legs of the thing, and it'll come crashing down like nothing.

That's going to be a sight, when characters start buying steel cables instead of AT-weapons. ;^)
