A Game about War from the Civilian's POV
I didn't label this as OT because I don't think it is. As a GM, I always wonder how ordinary people are getting by while my armed and armored PCs roam the countryside looking for their next meal. It's the part of world-building that I struggle with the most. This game looks to be a font of inspiration. I haven't played it yet, but I hope to soon. If any of you get a chance to check it out sooner, please let us know what you think.

I have been following and watching play-thoroughs for this since the alpha. It is quite grim and presents very difficult moral choices. The combat system seems weak, but that is not what the game is about. It has pretty complicated character management requiring that you deal with illness, starvation, fatigue, addiction, depression and more.
edit. From what I have seen if on your first play you start in winter, just restart. Here is a First Impression video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YNNA...KYpnsjMWf19Qgo (he shows the game about 4 hours in when it starts to get grim) Here is about 1 hour of play from one of my favorite letsplayers https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dHyZNj9l6Ek (he is kinda of a Min/Maxer when it comes to games so he will be focusing on how to get the most out of resources in the starting phase) The game is only semi-procedurally generated (random) so you might see similar conditions if you play. I have though about designing a "Jericho" campiagn where the PC's are civilians or state guard personel. The adventure starts when the first wave of missiles hit the US. I think you could work a good luck your on own broadcast too, but not sure who is would be from.

Just tried it. First thing it is a system hog. Had to play it in a window mode to make it run smoothly. Interesting concept and a little manual or tutorial would have helped figure out things. Something to play when nothing else to do.

How about the group are survivors from a military transport that just took off from an airbase to take them overseas when the EMP went off. You barely survived the crash and have to salvage from the plane and make your way back to your home base. Have to deal with panic in the streets and civil unrest.

That's also a good possibility. I'm looking at a civilian vehicle chart and semiauto variations of the issue weapons. T2013 is a good "civvy" source.

I touched on that idea in my "Out of Ashes" campaign. As well as the PCs dealing with local civies who had "gotten by" for several years without any government involvement.
