Default [Game] Pick a Cold War vehicle and upgrade it using modern components

Everyone knows of my undying loyalty to the US M551/M551A1 recon vehicle,
along with the fact that I generally upgrade the lil' guy for the TW.

So, here's the game;

- Pick a Cold War vehicle that is today obsolete, and upgrade it with the
commercially available upgrade packs found on the net such as those from
Textron.

- Stat it here for your favourite version of T2K.

Here's a start (I'll do my definitive Sheridan later)

BRDM2A1

A venerable beastie, with good mobility. However, we're looking a bit
vulnerable, so let's pimp the ride (yes, I've seen the limo version) and
make it more ready for 2010;

- Remove GAZ-41 gasoline V-8 engine (144hp) and replace with a turbo diesel
Duramax LB7 (300hp)
- Install a spall liner from BGF Industries
- Add applique armour from EWS (they do the up-armour package for the
AAV-7A1)
- The solitary PKM turret is insufficient. We'll drop in a 30mm 2A72 autocannon/PKT machinegun turret from Arzamas, although we could go the BPU turret (14.5mm KPV/7.62mm PKT) and save some weight and a crewman. Perhaps this is a cheap option, or made at a different plant.
- The new standard dual magnification day sight and x5.5 night sight.

Our new vehicle probably weighs about 10 tonnes, up from the 7.7 tonnes of the original and now seats an extra crew member in the turret for the 30mm version. The armour is doubled, and an air space is left between the applique and the armoured hull to halve the effects of HEAT rounds. The top speed is now increased to the vehicle's ability to steer safely, but the gearbox is low geared to provide more torque than speed and give impressive offroad traction. This little beastie would make a good tractor for artillery, as the motor comes out of a heavy truck. Being a diesel, it'll use less fuel than the gasoline engine, but it's higher requirements will come out about the same.
