Default Roll Call

TR 11-02-2003, 04:51 PM I think it might be time for another Twilight Roll Call... seems like I see more and more visitors to the board looking for gamers in their area. So this might help.

I'll start things off, I would happen to be over here in Colorado on the outskirts of Denver.

Though I've lived in Indiana prior to moving out to here so any Hoosier gamers out there I'll tip my hat to them.

Until Later

I'm that lunetic with the pages on www.ludd.luth.se/users/antenna/index2.htm

Jason Weiser 11-02-2003, 11:20 PM Twilight player from NYC..I am LARPing Vampire (cus the wife is making me!) and I want to get some trigger time (and perhaps intro the wife to what a real RPG is)

Grimace 11-03-2003, 12:42 AM Southeast Alaska is where I'm currently hanging my hat.

Though I doubt anyone else is near here.

ReHerakhte 11-03-2003, 03:17 AM He he he, sympathies Grimace, I live in Perth, Western Australia so I can relate to your situation.

Apparently Perth qualifies as the most isolated capitol city in the world, the nearest city (worth the actual title of city) is approximately 2000km away (yes, 2000) so my stock of players is very limited.

Having met a good number of them over the last decade or so since I started with T2k, M2k and DC, I don't want to game with some of them!

Cheers,

Kevin

Lindgaard 11-03-2003, 07:48 AM Lindgaard from Odense, Denmark.

At the moment I'm GM for a TW2000/DC crossover game that has been running all year . I think its the only active TW game in Denmark ! :-)

Rusty 11-03-2003, 10:12 AM Im From Lahti, Finland. Currently GM'ing t2k/gurps campaign and like 20 other gurps games

Isolation doesn't matter if you dont have time to actually go out of the house. Too many games i presume

TR 11-03-2003, 11:48 AM It has always amazed me to see the popularity of this game OUTSIDE the United States...

When I first started playing it in 1986 I wasn't even aware they were doing Finnish supplements (etc) or selling to anywhere else.

So to all of you replying from outside the USA (and I'll count Grimace as he is outside the CONUS) I tip my hat to you.

If I look to the Sotheast at night I can still see the glow from the strikes on the Joliet refineries back in '01

Not looking for a game or gamers currently, but just thought I would report in!

TiggerCCW UK 11-03-2003, 04:48 PM Hi all. I'm in Belfast Northern Ireland, getting ready to run a DC game, which began as a T2K campaign, but I had to change it as none of my players were really into the WW3 scene. Damn shame really. It is still a source of amazement to me that there are so many of us out there all over the world who are still so involved in the game.

jasonlips 11-03-2003, 05:29 PM Hello, I am in Omaha, NE smack dab in the middle of the USA. Yes it is kind of boring, but at least I have gaming. I'm trying to get some players together for T2K, but I might have to run DC instead as some players get a wierd look when I start going on about WWIII, A-bombs and the like.

Ebola 11-03-2003, 06:18 PM Colorado Springs, CO. here. And i must say it is extremely difficult to find t2k or merc player in a town with 5 military bases, what has gone wrong with the world.

gstitz 11-03-2003, 08:41 PM Greg "Gunner" Stitz

Live in the DC area, within the Beltway, so I guess I count as outside the US as well...

Longtime GM, getting back into playing after many years away.

Currently playing T20.

Batting around a Twilight:2010 / Twilight:2020 timeline around in my head...

Will probably have a website up in the near future, once it gets cold here and I can't work outside any more (putting in a retaining wall and some steps right now).

My bio (feel free to skip):

Son of two cops.

Spent eight years in the US Navy, mostly in the reserves, as a Gunner's Mate (Guns). Got out as an E-6. Qualified on the Mk-45 (5" gun), Mk75 (76mm) AND the mother of all guns - the 16" 50 battleship cannon. Never got to shoot a round, but my Master Chief qualified me, on paper at least.

Used my GI benefits to go back to school at Texas Maritime University, in Galveston, TX. Have a license as a Third Mate, Unlimited tonnage vessels, oceans. Took a commission in the reserves. Made Lieutenant last year.

Been married 17 years, no kids.

Glad to be here.

jester770 11-04-2003, 12:43 PM Why not!!!

Jester is Jess from the yahoo groups sites.

I live in Southern California. Recently I moved from Riverside/San Bernardino to Long Beach. Per the timeline I changed one glowing ruins for another LOL.

I run a gawd awful number of PBEMS that I have slowed to almost nil in favor of a 3 night a week real time chat game. It ddoes have alot more action and excitement from the anticipation than a chat based game!

I now recall why I loved the game so much. It is DEADLY!!!!! And I am not a killer GM. And rthe weaiting as the dice fall to see if you live or die, or at least if your character made the roll for success.

Anyhow I too am in persuit of a gamming group for a face to face game.

I think I shall start a new yahoogroup for recruiting players in my area. I attempted to get a data base in the yahoo Twi group when it first started with some response.

Oh well good idea with this post!

Ed the Coastie 11-06-2003, 02:10 AM "Ed the Coastie" -- ex-USCG weapon specialist, ex-Army armor officer, currently a drain on society (ie unemployed, much to my annoyance, and collecting Unemployment Insurance)

Living on the soggy southern Oregon coast (Coos Bay area)

At present, I am running a GURPS campaign and playing in a T2K varient on alternating weekends. Also involved in the planning of an upcoming Espionage LARP. (Although I have my doubts that the latter will ever actually be run, since it has been in the planning stages for more than 3 years now...)

graebarde 11-07-2003, 09:38 AM Currently located southwestern Mizzourah. Have been involved with T2K since 1987. FIRST RPG I ever saw (so I was shelted in my old age.. sheesh.) Fell heavy for it, and have (or had) most the modules (NEVER!!! NEVER!! EVER!!! loan a module to ANYONE!!) Played FTF for about 10+ years with a HoG that was VERY sadistic (NEVER leave your pack for a second, even in the woods). Enjoy PBeM and am in half a dozen active and probably a dozen semi to inactive games. I'm running my first campaign I refer to my 'experimental' game , as I try to get system things polished.

Older than the average Twilighter at 55.. spent 12 years in army green starting in 1968. BS in Agronomy with half the MS program in Ag Economics completed when I figured it was time to go to work (GI Bill ran out).

Interested in all aspects of the military. (And you CAN teach an ol dawg new tricks BTW). Interested in old ways of agriculture and industry (history I guess) and how it might apply to T2K of course. Also read/study geography, and as a result of T2K have studied alot about Poland and Polish history. (TY WWW!!!)

Morthrai 11-07-2003, 04:40 PM Central England here, about 14 miles from the centre of Birmingham.

Gaming since about 1978 and I must have played and GM'ed a hell of a lot of systems, but always liked the old GDW games best. Twilight was always good for a change from dungeon bashing, plus it drove my mates barmy because they hadn't a clue how to munchkin it

If the people are right then I admit I can and will play almost anything going.

Well you know, Hackett was a former general in Her Majesty's armed forces so he knew his stuff militarily speaking

I recall him being interveiwed on the BBC just after one of his books came out, and he turned out to be a slightly odd chap...he had never even owned a TV set for instance, and had no idea who the other guests on the show were. A typical upper class British eccentric all-round I guess, and probably didn't know where Birmingham was, full of working class types doncha know

Oh, it's Morthrai BTW

Webstral 11-10-2003, 03:53 AM I'm living in the North (San Francisco) Bay right now. Between job hunting, substitute teaching, and trying to get into the CANG, I'm pretty much out of the loop on things T2k. I'm hoping to get back to work on the Sino-Soviet War, but I can't seem to commit much time to it.

If you need any more clues about that spot in North Carolina that's always in the news (sometimes good, sometimes because several individuals decided to end their marriage with a knife)... I'll draw you a map

Abbott Shaull 03-21-2004, 09:12 AM Hello, I am currently from Sault Ste Marie, Michigan. They Soo Locks are so close that in RL during the cold war... Well let's us just say if the Soviet was on target my place would be at with a reasonable area known as ground zero.

Funny thing in the game they only have Sawyer Air Force Base the only UP target in the t2k and the importance of the Soo Locks or for that matter the Mackinaw Bridge. One of those interesting thing with all the Iron Ore that passes through this area. It would take a long time to convert to shippment via rail from the ranges in Minn, Wisconsin, and Western UP of Michigan.

Sgt Biggles 03-29-2004, 02:20 PM Salem, Oregon here.

Long time gamer. Cut my teeth on the old SPI board games when SPI was a new gaming company.

Spent 15 years in the Air Force, left as a Law Enforcement Supervisor. Specialized in Fatal Accident Investigation, K9 and was an ate up Special Ops Team Leader. Got hurt in Panama. The injury eventually ended my career. Now I'm a bum. But I have a very patient wife.

Twilight 2000 has been my game of choice since it was released. To the poster in Colorado Springs. One of my best gaming groups every was a bunch tankers, cops and Special Forces types from Carson, CMC and Pete Field. Dont give up. The gamers are there.

What is it about this game that it attracts folks who have been there, done that?

I read that on another thread. If you are up to the drive, my gaming group will be posting RPGA game days pretty soon. The local gamestore, Borderlands, is moving to a new location and is going to get more involved with us.

Look for the Blacksheep Gaming Herd post on the game calendar for the RPGA. Hopefully, by mid April we will have a web site up.

There is also a group in Corvalius, Swords and Sorcery, who meet once a month, mostly on the 1st Sunday of the month. They are on the calendar as well.
