OT - US Marines arrive in Darwin
The first company of a projected 2500 US Marines (between now and 2014) arrived in Australia's Northern Territory last night, to begin joint training operations with the Australian Army. The Marines are being housed at Robertson Barracks in Darwin.
http://news.smh.com.au/breaking-news...404-1wc91.html Typically for the hopelessly militarily ignorant Australian media, I haven't read or heard reports yet about what battalion the Marines are from, just that they arrived from Hawaii and are "Fox Company". Makes me wonder if Law will be coming to Darwin in the next couple of years. Anyway, I say "Welcome, Jarheads!". Seriously, I think it's great. The more the merrier. The ADF is already well set up for interoperability with US forces. Training with USMC elements in Australia can only help with that.
