Although Argentina and Chile are playing nice now, it wasn't the case in the 80's and early 90's, and even as late as 2006 there were still issues - and that doesn't even include the dispute over Antarctica.

According to a 1998 negotiation held in Buenos Aires, a 50 km (31 mi) section of the boundary in the Southern Patagonian Ice Field is still pending of mapping and demarcation according to the limits already settled by the 1881 treaty. Would the UN really relocate to Chile given the ongoing and unresolved dispute with Argentina? How would Argentina respond to that?
