My campaign as a player
As a way of really introducing myself to you guys figured I would put up a thread about what my campaign was as a player and how our GM handled the game - have seen a few others who have done that - wont go into a ton of detail as it was years ago but can give the flavor
Will start with who we were and what we rolled up Our GM and many of our players had been or were ROTC of various types at college and immediately afterward, several of whom went on to the Gulf and to Iraq and Afghanistan and one of whom went to Somalia as well We had a total of eight players, and our GM asked us what kind of campaign we wanted after he read us the backstory - i.e. run away or do as much damage as we could on the way out. We elected to do the second and he thus weighted the beginning to send us down that path. We rolled for our vehicles and combined 3d6 and managed to get an M1A1 tank and a 2.5 ton truck. I decided to roll up a tank crewman and ended up a Captain (i.e. the tank commander) with my rolls. We also had one character who was a combat medic, another who was a combat engineer, three infantrymen, one heavy weapons infantryman, and one guy who was going to go Special Forces so he elected to play a Green Beret who had been seperated from his unit - and we started after they released the RDF so he was rolled up with the additions from that module. Of the infantrymen elected to play not as an American but as a Polish soldier who had defected to the US (he was of Polish descent in real life and added some Polish from time to time for color to the game). And our Green Beret was a full blooded Apache Indian from Arizona (as he was in real life as well - and in the end I heard he did get to be a real Green Beret) who had a bow and throwing knife as part of his equipment. An interesting bunch to say the least. Our GM started us southeast of Kalisz heading for Sieradz along with a bunch of NPC's who had broken out with us including a Major who commanded another M1A1 tank as well as a Bradley, a M113, two HMMVW, our truck, which had a medium still behind it and two others including one also towing a medium still, with the Major (ie. the GM) telling us we were going to buy the division as much time as we could and that as far as he knew we were all that had broken thru the enemy lines. My crew were all NPC's except the loader who was also the combat medic. Two of our guys were in the truck and the rest were riding in the M113. Oh and we started the game with the Major wishing me happy birthday (July 18th is my real birthday) and telling me that we were going to give the Russians a real party.
