I thought that Fossey would be a pretty popular surname among uplifted gorillas and the name Michael is from the RL gorilla that used to live with Koko (like Koko, Michael could speak in American sign language). I still hope that one day MajorPo will run that campaign. It was to be a "behind enemy lines" campaign set on TANSTAFL after the Kaifer invasion.
Where to start...

The Käfer War ended with Humanity bombing the Käfer Homeworld back to the stoneage (literally) with the aide of the Pentapods creating a virus that caused those Käfer effected to become DUMB, incapable of ever getting smart.

The German colonies have been declaring independence since the war and German people are wracked with guilt because the German fleet commander had been responsible for orbital bombardments of Käfer worlds (and said commander was arrested and to be tried for war crimes until one of the now independent German colonies did a commando raid on the German warship carrying him back to Earth and he now lives in a home the colonist built for him in secusion), the French are still top-dog (but more of a paper tiger with the British as the power behind the throne)...

there is alot in there... and it's not good. i had high hopes, but instead of getting something really good... i found something horrible.

You could also get the disc at far future enterprise - I was very pleased with the items I bought from them .

At some time I hope to run a 2300AD campaign myself - but I am nerdly going where no man has gone before and will be picking and mixing what I like and what I need to suit my own ends -extensively.

I like the hard science backdrop and the whole "ugly " spaceship deal -not many sleak, aero dynamic craft that look like jets in this game .

I guess I have taken around 500 - 1000 images of the net that I plan to use as illustrations for planets, ships, ship interiors etc as well as the motley assembly of NPCs of all stripes to interact with the PCs.

I have more than enough to handle with our ongoing T2K campaign ,so I dont foresee any dice being rolled in this campaign anytime soon - but I am slowly piecing together houserules and getting a hang of the game and the game universe . I love the " Etranger " site for its great pics of ships etc .

But when I eventually get there I would love a place to discuss the game and get input .

I'm really keen on the idea of having a new 2300AD forum.

And I have to agree with natehale that 2320AD (and QLI in general) did 2300AD a grave dis-service.

While a few goofy parts of the old 2300AD were fixed, like uber high populations for a few colonies and contradictions within canon, many of the changes were the whim of the author and a few overly whiny playtesters who wanted it to be their version of the game, not just a sequel to the original.

A few examples...Nearly all nations of Terra are overly obtrusive nanny surveillance states, and the people love it. A bit of the author's Canadian pro-European ideology coming through here I believe.

The new cluster of stars opened up at the end of the American Arm contain the remnants of a alien society that littered the region with deadly booby-traps. Wow, how original.

No mention of the alliance formed between Britain, Germany and America as mentioned in Challenge magazines 49-51. Also no mention of the excellent garden world of Plowshare discovered along the route towards the Ylii.

Again, despite what is mentioned in those Challenge magazines the Ylii are portrayed almost as sinister beings wanting to assimilate humanity not be allies.

Despite, being 20 years in the future little has changed except the end of the Kafer War which has been handled by a major deus ex machina leaving a situation pulled right out of the Iraq War.

And most of the aliens went from being interesting to being sock-puppet retreads cribbed from other works of science fiction.

Other than that I guess 2320AD was OK. Mongoose Publishing is in talks with Marc Miller to take over the franchise but unfortunately they are also in talks with the 2320AD author to be heavily involved.

I like the idea but,as Cndwolf said above, I'm in information overload, too. The Morrow project has arised my curiosity too... Ahhhh...I'm so weak... Anyway I will end reading your posts about 2300...so, why not?

Benjamin's comments ruffled my feathers a bit too.

As I have said before the Kaifer were my favorite part of the back story. This just seems really dumb.

Ok there seems to be a desire for a forum. Once anyone has a few things to post I will create it. Let me know when you guys are ready.

like i said, there was a LOT of things they did in 2320ad that just totally blows.

The fact that the Käfer war ended in such a totally contrived way is just part of it. the original ideals behind the game just don't exist in the new version. i totally hate the fact that i had actually spent my money for the PDF of it.

they didn't even give the stats for all of the ships in d20 Traveller format. And that was the only real reason i had bought the thing.

But I do have alot of ideas for 2300ad, and how to make it better and more fun.
