I think ever since that sparkly vampire movie came out, every time some hears the words "Twilight" they think of that instead of the game.

I ope I am not stirring up trouble here but I got to ask did any of our esteemed Catalan members post an analysis of the situation in Spain ( as in the modern national state) after the apocalypse?

I suppose there would be independence/separatist movements trying to get control.

Maybe another thread??hmm

I was up north near Tossa de Mar and Girona Marc but I did get to travel a good bit, beautiful part of the world!

Actually I'd be curious too HQ, I remember there was a thread concerning Northern Ireland so would be interesting to see what would happen in other hotspots like Basque country etc.

Pretty sure, it deserves another thread.

The explanation about the situation in the Iberian Penisula as depicted in the rule book of Twilight:2000 v2.2 is not very satisfactory. I prefer the situation depicted in the "Mediterranean Cruise" module. In the v2.2 background information there's not any clue regarding to Morocco, and the situation of the two Spanish autonomous cities there (Ceuta and Melilla). Any Moroccan possible aspiration to control these Spanish cities will condition the military attitude of Spain. And, in turn, this will condition tha availability of the Spanish military resources to face any independentist movement inside its own borders.

Accordingly to Mediterranean Cruise, the assumption that Spain will try to remain neutral by the dates of the eruption of the Twilight war seems plausible. I think that this will be a good point to depart from. But if this neutrality would be strict enough to deny the use of Spanish bases and facilities to the NATO side could be a matter of debate.

Following Mediterranean Cruise, the fact that Spanish important facilities could be targeted by nuclear strikes is entirely plausible, too, with independence of the level of neutrality of Spain, and following the politics of the last nuclear strikes to deny the use of important facilities in the neutral contries.

Amid the effect of this strikes, the possibility that some of the regions with more nationalitst roots could try to became independent is plausible. But, in the case of Catalonia, the geographical situation depicted in Twilight 2000 (both in v2.2 maps and in Mediterranean Cruise) seems too exagerate, as it exceeds the current limits of our autonomous region and catalans nationalists have not any real aspiration of expansion.

In any case, all is conditined by the availability of the Spanish government to retain the control of the Army and the reaction of the rest of the Spain amid the chaos caused by the nuclear strikes and their effects.

Another subject that seems more plausibe in Mediterranean Cruise is the attitude of the Guardia Civil (depicted as becoming marauders in the v2.2) . Though I must recognize that some Catalans have our own prejudices about this corps (tied to their role in the past years of dictatorship), the Guardia Civil has demostrated in the last years a true vocation of public service and is hard to imagine them as a band of robbing marauders.

In resume, HQ, it truly deserves a new thread. I will think about it and write some lines.

Have a nice day!
