Default Undersea Cable Landing Locations

Saw a story today about concern that Somali pirates might go after undersea cable landing locations. Got me to thinking about such locations value in the T2k world. With very few functioning satellites these cables would only see their value increase.

Here is a basic list of locations

Map showing 2004 cable locations.

Figured attacking/defending/liberating these location might make for some interesting missions.

This is a great idea for some cool adventures. Securing both ends of a cable might be a sweet deal in a world without satellites.. hmmmm hmmmm

Very interesting info Kato, thanks for that.

I probably won't be online for a couple of weeks. Tonight I'm flying out of Western Australia to invade Victoria and bring back my war bride. Death or Glory!

Hmm, now my evil GM brain is running overtime. Thanks for the idea Kato, I'm sure my players will have a devil of a time with it.

That's one of those little-known massive vulnerabilities of the modern world. Shhhhh!

Here is the question, how well are they maintained since the advent of satelights and such phones.

And how many of you when this thread started thought of that episode of Gilligands Island where the cable washed up on their beach?

Hope the trip goes well Targ! Drive safe and don't forget to roll for a random encounter every 4 hours!
