The GPMG's a beast. A bitch to carry but it shows its love when you finally let rip
Wish I'd a chance with the Bren, they were removed from our inventory around three years ago, my cousin and father both claim it was the coolest MG they used! |

Don't get me wrong, I love the 240- its a beast when it comes to laying out fire, but in my mind the MG3 wins out for a number of reasons, but the biggest is that its much more suited to mobile rapid use due to its layout. The gimpy sticks its grip way at the end of its working bits and then tacks on a stock: that makes it darn near impossible to shot from the hip: while the MG3 and the 60 you can.
Admittedly you shouldn't have to shoot that way, but sometimes you gotta ands Its nice to be able to do so. The HK21 however calls to another side of me: for fun (yes, I suck) I actually like to take the TW stats and build up large regimental size formations, detailed down to the last magazine and litre of gas: how many people, how many trucks, etc. My pet peeve though is the endless proliferation of different types of everything, so to be able to use the same platform be it small arms, AFV's, to trucks is what I am all about.

Favorite 7.62 mg.
Well that depends. For me at the trigger it's the HK 21. If needed the air support or "we were just passing by" then it's the Stalkers with their 134s coming in first. |

i would go with the RPD. lightweight, reliable, (and chop the barrel down like sog did back in the day and you got a great LMG for CQB)

IRL a friend did M60 duty in the Navy, where you take it out of a locker and mount it on it's position. He later joined the National Guard, who were delighted to find out he was qualified on the M60, he soon was not delighted at all with his assigned weapon on a march.

I was the smallest and lightest in my section, possibly even platoon (hard to remember back that far now). I chose to be the gunner and carry the M60 even though I rarely had a No2 to carry the spare barrel, cleaning kit and extra ammo. Having that firepower at your fingertips is a big plus for me, and the weight of it tended to help balance out the weight of my pack too.

It's Alive!
Based on the new responses on the Favorite APC/IFV thread, I thought a bit of thread necromancy might be in order.
