Default Nato, Nukes & Nazis

It's been a long while since I posted here. My gallbladder exploded and now we're moving to Wisconsin. Needless to say I've been busy and in pain, but I picked up the strategy game, Nato, Nukes and Nazis. The back story isn't too implausible and it plays a lot like NATO: The Next War in Europe. Overall it seems like something one could play out an alternate version of the Twilight War with and then role-play in the outcome. Nazis make even better baddies then Commies. I've actually been thinking of playing out the game using some of the various scenarios posted at http://talk.consimworld.com/ and then working the timeline all the way forward till 2300AD as a tie in to that other game by GDW.

Anyone else here play NNN? Have you ever used it for role playing? Any other thoughts?

Benjamin

NN&N is a nice little beer & pretzels game, same company also produced Mississippi Banazi (Japan and 3rd Reich fight it a'la Staingrad, but in St.Louis). And another one set in the MB universe called, I think, Persian Gold (3rd Reich and Japan duel for control of the Persian Gulf oil fields).

All three are decent games!

Ouch!
Been there and done that Ben! Get better! Anyhow, where did you find the alternate scenarios? I still have my copy and I LOVE that game.

Yes, Thank you. I'm gaming the initial German attack on NATO, Operation Overlord, End of an Iron Dream and the Nazi Civil War in succession. But I'm not allowing nukes until NATO forces enter territory they did not originally hold at the beginning of the War. As I already have a rough timeline of what I hope to accomplish and am playing solo, I'm going to fudge some of the results. German attack on NATO begins in April 1995. The weapons are as per our reality but with some modifications (US has XM800 ARSV for example). I'm going to have better developed space assets that can occasionally impact the war (orbital artillery, hypersonic spy/attack aircraft, etc.)

Pro-NATO Russia and Japan are fighting a war with China. Italy and Scandinavia are initially neutral. I'm still working out the rest of the global situation but aim to have the war as global and destructive as the Twilight War.

Eventually if I have time after I move, I hope to move the timeline forward 300 years to do a setting that combines the old Reich Star RPG with 2300AD. Nazis fighting Kafers just sounds like a good idea to my depraved and twisted mind.

Benjamin,

Web-Grognards has some interesting variant material for NNN. (A game designed partially to spoof the fact that in the past, the only wargames that sold were about "NATO, Nukes and Nazis".)

NNN OstFront OOB:

http://web.archive.org/web/200010021.../wargames.html

New NNN Scenario: Total War, 2005

https://home.comcast.net/~dlamb123/nnn2005.pdf

(Includes detailed political analysis on the outbreak of the war and the birth of a Warsaw Pact... under the Nazis.)
