Default OT- Battle: Los Angeles

How many here have seen the movie, either in the theater or on DVD? No spoilers, but I'll just say this: It's Great! Not quite Saving Private Ryan or Black Hawk Down, but it's good. Ignore what the elitist snob reviewers like Roger Ebert say...the movie came out a week after Oscar and IMHO the reviewers were still in Oscar mode, looking for the next Best Picture nominee.

Good action sci-fi, with a good budget. Not a bad or brilliant depiction of realistic military stuff, but better than a lot.

Worth watching but no threat to Aliens as the definitive marines vs xenomorphs saga.

Not bad at all.
The story could have been a bit stronger but the aliens were believe-able.

Considering I thought SPR was a bad movie (there were movies made during WWII with better characters and plots), that's not a good sign for me.

Maybe if I looked at it as District 9: Part II: Revenge Of The Prawns

To be honest, the newer WW2 movies all suck. SPR, pearl harbour etc.

Watch a Bridge too far and you realise how far hollywood has fallen.

"A Bridge Too Far"! Now there's a movie EVERYONE should watch!
It may not be 100% factual, but it's so damn close that it doesn't matter (probably only some of the dialogue differes from RL). Show how things can go really well and really bad all at the same time.

Have to say that Bridge Too Far has to be one of the top 5 war movies of all time. You will not see this kind of care and attention to detail in a movie any more.

Anyone else ever get the chance to make the Nijmegnian (spelling sucks!) March?

This is the annual march from Nij to Arnhem...you really get a feel for just how poorly planned Market-Garden was...trying to push an armored division up a two lane road that is elevated some dozen feet above the fields...talk about exposed!!!

I liked it (Battle LA). It was a fun movie.

It could have did without the cheesy ending though.
