Default [OT] GenCon...

It's that time of year again.

Passes? Check.

Hotel? Check.

Pub Crawl route? Check.

Anyone else going?

EDIT: Well, that time that passes and lodging opened up for purchase, anyway.

Yeah unfortunately at some point a while back, the committee pretty much focused on Harper-Collins publishers and some years it seemed like it was nothing more than a book/author launch for Harper-Collins.

Swan Con has formed into a science-fiction & fantasy literature convention so the gaming side of things in all aspects (computer, boardgame, RPG etc. etc.) has fallen by the wayside. Although to be fair, this year has a bit more representation in that regard.

As for me attending, I've had a look at the list of events and even though this years theme is Apocalypse, there's not enough to interest me (and there simply isn't enough 'apocalypse' in the programme to justify the theme let alone interest me). They have a few things I'm interested in but not enough in any single day to justify the ticket price.

P.S. Just checked the programme again and it's changed since I last looked at it. They are still sorting out events etc. but with the Con less than a month away, they still haven't got a full list of events available yet. Although there are some definite points of interest, as I said, not enough apocalypse for my tastes just yet.
