Default OT: Dallas police officers shot, killed by snipers

owing fatal police shootings of two black men elsewhere in the country, 11 Dallas police officers were shot (3 dead) at a rally by at least two snipers.

The story is still developing.

Since this news is being widely disseminated already, I'm not sure there's value added by posting it here. If anything, it's likely to lead to lead to nasty contentiousness and thread-lock.

I, have a background here so I will just say we lost a fine man I knew and loved here a few weeks ago. A Deputy Sheriff shot down.
My so-in-law worked with him, he and his kids shared picnics and sporting events together.
We are cops, well some of us have to use the term were.
I am crying now as I think of his family, and mine and what we went through and are still going through.
I ask your prayers and thoughts for those that have gone and those that remain doing the work that needs to be done day after day
In Harms way.
God Bless

I feel your pain. We have buried THREE of our own in just the last 10 years. Sadly, Dallas IS CURRENTLY UNDER THREAT FOR THE SECOND TIME THIS WEEK! I'm not sure what exactly is happening but it is happening RIGHT NOW (7pm Eastern Time on 9 July 2016).
