Community Timeline for 4th edition
Hey everyone,
Just wanted to take a moment to let you all know that the expanded timeline supplement for 4th edition has finally released, and is available as a ‘pay what you want’ supplement on drivethru. https://www.drivethrurpg.com/m/product/421082 This product was a labor of love, and the group of us responsible for creating it are pretty proud of the end result. We hope you enjoy exploring it! A huge thanks to Raellus, Chico, and everyone else that contributed reference material, inspiration, and insight for the supplement. Happy holidays! |

How many pages is it?

Just over 120 pages and every page is excellent.
It reads like the Merc 2000 Gazetteer that was produced by GDW and gives a year by year history of the region from the late 80s to 2000 along with the various armed factions as at 2000. While maps are mostly high level this is no big deal as you can source more detailed regional maps on the internet. It does not contain any vehicle or weapon stats but again there is other sources for these. You’ve have more than enough details to set your own adventures in each of the regions with being constrained. All in an excellent product that has covers conflicts in the Far East, Indian sub continent, Africa, Central America as well as the Baltic and the Balkans. I have given it five stars on DTRPG but still to write a review for it (hopefully will do tomorrow). |

Ok, I purchased it.
Have a question though. Units are listed like this: 1st Mechanized Infantry Division Location: Hangzhou, Zhejiang Personnel: ~4000 [~12500] Combat Vehicles: 278 [346] what do the numbers in brackets represent? |

The numbers in brackets is the units prewar full strength so in the example above at full strength it was 12,500 but is now down to roughly a third of its prewar strength.

This is correct. I followed the template set forth by the 4e canon products when it came to listing units, so that it would feel like it was a part of the 4e suite of products. The numbers in the brackets are pre-war strength of these units. Where we had exact figures regarding the number of men/vehicles in a given formation, we listed them, and where we only had rough figures, we gave an approximate number using a tilda.

Well Done!
A lot of good work there. For spots that didn't receive a decent treatment in earlier versions (and there are quite a few), some of the material in the 4e Community Timeline (OOBs, local factions, etc.) could be easily adapted to v1-2.2/2013.

Thank you, Rae.
We definitely did our best to blend reality with the 4e timeline as much as possible, using real life events. Huge props to Chico for sharing his many, many collected OrBats with me (thanks, Chico - I gave you a shout out at the beginning of the supplement for your help as well ) - those were used directly in determining where a lot of the units wound up in the narratives we wrote. |
