Germany Post Operation Omega
I was wondering what the German governments priorities would be post Operation Omega heading into 2001 and beyond.
My initial thoughts would be to secure the eastern border along the Oder-Neisse line, operations against the French in the occupied area west of the Rhine and dealing with any marauder groups. Also trying to get the economy on track and feeding the population would also be a main priority. Any other thoughts. |

German priorities post 2001
Quote:
Even suffering from limited nuclear strikes the Bundeswehr would probably not want to waste lives and resources trying to drive the French out militarily. Instead, diplomacy where German forces would secure the pre-war border and a phased withdrawal of French forces? The Dutch, sadly, I imagine would be left partially occupied by the French Union as Germany wouldn't expend the political capital or military resources. Anti-Marauder sweeps-absolutely. Make contact with "friendly" Allied forces such as the troop of the 278th Cavalry occupying the town with the nuclear power plant would be a priority-seeking cooperation and pledging some kind of loyalty to the German government. Make contact with specialist Allied troops left behind (Like General Korel in Going Home offering highly qualified military refugees a place in the Bundeswehr. Oil-Secure the tiny oil area near Hanover, which, according to Going Home was still occupied by British forces. An arrangement with British troops to secure and split the oil output with Germany? Small but critical amounts of aid to pro-Western Polish forces/groups both to secure some stability in Poland and insure some pro-Western (or at least tolerance of Germany) sentiment. Definitely feeding and insuring the safety of the population and racing to save what infrastructure and cultural treasures could still be salvaged. Those are my immediate thoughts.
