There's something to be said for a shotgun using old 23mm cannon barrels ...

Actually, there are a few companies who make revolvers chambered for .30 Carbine these days (Taurus comes immediately to mind with their Raging Thirty), but such revolvers are generally heavyweight handfuls. Back when all those different models of the AutoMag were being built by Galena, they chambered one of those for .30 Carbine, but that was a very heavy handgun as well, with a long barrel (IIRC, 8 inches, with a muzzle brake).

Interesting but I see two problems with it.
A) it's not double barrel and B) it's not sawn off

Then buy two KS-23s, a roll of gaffer tape and a hacksaw.

That would be an interesting weapon to work up -- two KS-23s wired together and with the barrels sawn-off...

What I have been partial to lately is the PTR 14.5 anti tank rifle with a sawn off barrel as a personal weapon.
As for .30 carbine pistols, AMT made one, and lets not forget Ruger made many of their revolvers in .30 carbine.

Meh, if it's not 40mm, it's not serious!

Never having fired a shotgun, be kind but....
Would the recoil on that KS-23 or the beast in the picture make it extremely unwieldy? |

Maybe for a pussy, not for a real man. Heh heh.

Ah yes, you mean ok for an Aussie but not a whinging Pomme?
I am quite impressed by these weapons and was going to give my players a shock by encountering bad guys using them, no doubt they will start using them after this so.... I was going to try to get some stats (v1 rules) on it and the recoil I am now assuming wouldnt be a problem with someone trained to use and a decent stature. If anyone has some v1 stats it would be appreciated. |

And, ultimately, PCs end up facing Terminators T-101. Enjoy and R.I.P.

I've read one author speculate that firing the KS-23 is a test of manhood for Spetsnaz troops ...

I've got V1 stats for the 8 gauge at home (currently out and about). Might have 10 gauge as well.

Ok - this KS-23 thing. I have checked out the stats for a standard 23mm vehicle mounted weapon in the v1 rules and realise these cant be applied to the KS-23 as they would just obliterate any body part they hit.
Would maybe reducing the damage to 2/3rds, range to 30 and ammo to 3 be a reasonable compromise as a crude set of stats for this weapon? |

Took me long enough but here's a doc I found a few years back with 1st ed stats of a handful of shotguns.
Attachment 767 The 8 gauge is near the end.

Thanks, Legbreaker!
I can use this and/or adapt the transition of stats from the 12 gauge through 10 and 8 down for the KS-23. |
