in a current issue assault pack a soldier of small stature can carry 2 MRE's, 2000 rnds 7.62n belted(int the waist pack attached to the top), 3 AKM's, 1 RPK, and 3 mags for the AK and a drum for the RPK.

i think i had some other crap in there too but i remember the damned thing was heavy and i had to walk 10K to the 113 in late afternoon in the summer time in iraq. (did i mention i loved that troop commander...)

btw cut movement speed in half and double the bitching speed(of the entire element)

Um.... I'm not one to call, but...

Lets see, body armour, pack, LBV, MRE's, water, and fatigues weigh in around 30kg, give or take, but since you said you had other stuff we will go with that for the moment.

3 AKM's, with 3 mags, a RPK and a 100 round drum comes in around 30kg.

2000 rounds of link, assuming you dumped the cans, about 45kg.

So. You was loading out with over 210-220 pounds of kit right?

I'm a ex tanker, I know how much huge amounts of linked 7.62 weighs in at. 2000 is just mind boggling.

3 loaded AKMs and 1 loaded RPK would come in around 18kg (standard issue RPK drum mag is 75-rds), not 30.
I'm raising this because I'm wondering if the weights quoted by Panther Al have been swapped between pounds and kilograms by accident?
