Sounds like a good filler for a grenade, or even a 12-Gauge shotgun shell.

I'd like to know a lot more about the requirements for detonating such a charge before I form a solid opinion.
I can certainly see the potential though for shotshell sized (or even smaller) explosive bullets.

Back when I was a young PFC in the Army, I was reading a copy of Army Times where they were talking about possible weapons for the far future (by 2100). One of them was a new sniper bullet -- a micronuke based on Californium-252. They gave the example of a 7.62mm bullet able to destroy a 3-story building. Interesting idea, but I can't see how a nuke that small could be engineered -- or why it would even be necessary. And of course, Californium-252 now costs about $100,000 per tenth of a microgram, and has a half-life measured in weeks...

Where do they sell Californium?
How Much would a 30 round clip cost...

(probably should use single shot fire mode and no burst)

Scientific institutions sell them to each other for experiments. Californium-252 can be made in most particle accelerators, but it's not easy or cheap apparently.

And would the magazine require radiation shielding?

Hmmm...that would be an interesting weapon to whip up...my guess is that by FFS standards, you're looking at about a Tech Level 13-15 weapon.

I once saw in "Pat Garrett's, Billy the Kid" where one guy used a shotgun with shells filled with dimes and when he fired it, you saw the dimes flying and fluttering out in slow motion, it was pretty cool.

In one of the Young Guns films Billy the Kid (played by Emelio Estevez) fires a shotgun loaded with coins and afterwards remarks IIRC "Best $1.80 I ever spent!".

On History International channel, I once saw a show about different Old West weapons. They tried that load on a dummy made of ballistic gelatin and clothed in typical Old West garb. The dimes didn't even penetrate the leather vest, and the ballistic gelatin damage corresponded with bruised ribs at the most.
