Default Ot/ Name that game

Name me the game that is set in Australia, You wake up laying in a Cryogenic unit naked and have to survive from that point.
Oh yeah robotic units abound inside and mutations are everywhere outside.

Ha! Aftermath.
I had a few ideas but I was not thinking of Aftermath. I own the game but never had a chance to play it and I haven't read the books for some time. I thought the main setting was the USA and the Australian bit was just the one adventure - looks like I'll have to pull the box off the shelf and give that introductory scenario another read (it has been quite a few years, probably about seven or or eight or so...)

Ya know, somebody will be "afteryou" if ya don't keep them lame jokes outta here!

As a point of interest, FGU are still producing books for AFTERMATH! including a double-release of two old and hard to find adventures, one of which happens to be the one I believe the LT was talking about (Scenario Pack A1: Operation Morpheus).

Yeah that particular scenario does sound very much like it and AFTERMATH! came out around the same time as The Morrow Project but it's just the one scenario. The beauty of AFTERMATH! is that there could be any type of apocalypse, depending on the wishes of the GM and Players - alien invasion, meteor strike, disease, WW3, nature strikes back and so on.

Operation Morpheus was just one of the possible campaign types that was on offer and considering that it was written by an Australian and considering that The Morrow Project (TMP) was barely even known about here in Oz (and still isn't well known here even today**), it's entirely possible that he may not have been aware of the parallels.
Op Morpheus was one of two Australian packs, the other being Campaign Pack A2, Sydney: The Wilderness Campaign.

Now the REALLY, REALLY, REALLY interesting thing (did I stress "really" enough?) is that the writer of Operation Morpheus is Phil McGregor... who just happens to be on this forum with the forum name aspqrz, the same guy who recently posted about his new modern military game in the works. So yeah, if anyone was still wondering how much he knows about making post-apoc rpgs, he can add at least two AFTERMATH! products to his resume.
http://forum.juhlin.com/showthread.php?t=4876

Amazon also has an author's page for him here: -
http://www.amazon.com/Phil-McGregor/...ne_cont_book_1

** for example, I am the only person I know of in the rp-gaming crowd in my city that has even heard of TMP let alone has a copy - I own most of the TMP books except for the latest edition and modules.
EDIT: aside from Targan that is

Well we also don't have any neighbours to bother cos' we're a bloody big island that has lots and lots of desert and lots and lots of jungle, so ya'know, we start getting a bit restless and maybe a little crazy...

I'm guessing that most people here have not seen The Cars That Ate Paris, the movie that inspired the entire Mad Max series? You think we're a little bit strange now, wait 'till you see that movie...
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0071282/
The trailer showcases much of the strange/weird/crazy in the movie.

Australian's aren't competitive, we just like to prove what we already know - we're better than the rest of the world.

According to mates in the Army when the US Marines were out here in the ... late 80's IIRC ... for some joint exercise with us Aussies ... well, us Aussies are known for our peculiar sense of humour, shall we say ... and the Briefing Pack given to all the Officers and NCOs contained mostly true information ... mostly ...

See, there are some nasties up in FNQ ('Far North Queensland'), real nasties ... some of the most poisonous reptiles and arachnids around, just for a start. So all of them were in the briefing package.

Along with the Drop Bears some of you seem familiar with

But were you aware of the Kangaroo Trapdoor Tackle Spiders?

Big things the size of Dinner Plates, and larger, who live in concealed lairs in the ground ... and sense passing vibrations of, oh, size 12 Marine Boots, for example. They wait till the vibrations have passed overhead and then bound out of the concealed lair, grabbing the ankles of the passer by, tripping them.

The victim has one slim chance of survival - they must immediately swivel around and stare the predator down. Not blinking once, till they slowly withdraw into their lair.

(Lots of roots to trip on in FNQ! :-))

Then there's the Killer Kangaroos. Look exactly like regular K's to foreigners … which, as everyone knows, commonly hop down the main street of Brisbane … but, well, they have bigger brains (regular Ks have relatively small ones), are carnivorous, have much stronger and better developed forearms with better grasp (almost human!). And they can hop faster than a Marine weighed down with an 80lb pack can run … and they have been known to grab tree branches and beat their prey to death!

Then there was the (if true) sad story of some Track commander who didn't duck when travelling too fast along a rough track on one of the exercises … and got brained by a low hanging branch … which was immediately attributed to Drop Bear attack by the rest of the vehicle crew who buttoned up and had to be coaxed out by some Aussie medics …

Is it any wonder that the Marines left the briefing muttering dark things about the dangerous wildlife?

As for the two Campaign Packs for Aftermath I was, indeed, responsible for them ... but was also quite well aware of The Morrow Project (had 1st Edition and 2nd Edition ... probably still do packed away somewhere), the problem was getting any of the adventures, scarcer than Hen's teeth down here in Oz.

Not impressed by the more recent Hardcover version, though. Great cover, terrible interior ... art? ... poorly laid out and klunky rules compared to the really very good earlier versions. And the background? While some attempt has been made to update it, it's about as good an effort as the rest is ... not a patch on the original two versions, IMO (but I'm probably just being a cranky old codger).

Phil

Those killer kangaroos are real! I've hunted down a few myself.
Buggers are tough though - Don't try taking one down with anything lighter than a .303 or 7.62N, or better yet 12 gauge slugs at a dozen yards.
Lost a few good dogs in the process too.
