Has anyone heard anything about this stuff? Sounds interesting although I don't know how well developed it is yet.

pmulcahy 05-21-2004, 10:10 AM I hadn't heard of it. The first thing that jumped into my head after reading the article was, "Kind of like the wet ammo storage used by some Shermans in World War 2!"

Ed the Coastie 05-21-2004, 10:24 AM Now THAT is something which has plenty of gaming potential!

It reminds me of an armor type from the Aftermath game called "Rigiplast". Now that there appears to be a real-world equivalent that I can use for justification, I can extrapolate it for use in my games.

Grimace 05-21-2004, 09:16 PM Interesting stuff indeed! I wonder how long it takes after impact before it turns malleable again? Is it one of those "moment long" stiffness, then returns to normal, or does it sit in the hardened state and then you have to work it back out so that it moves again?

Like the article said, it would be great for arms, legs....stuff that wings a person and currently has no real protection.

evilmike 05-23-2004, 06:11 PM Wow.

Larry Niven's 'impact armor' lives.

Go figger.....
