Default Random equipment

I have been thinking about restarting my equipment database (work is REALLY boring right now) and I thought it would be fun have members post items that could be added to a random equipment list.

As you have time walk around your house and post maybe 10 things you think would be useful in the T2k/13 world and a similar number of odd things that you think no one else might have.

These in the end could become part of a random PC/NPC equipment list or prehaps a looting table for vehicles or buildings.

Going to walk around my house now, back in a few.

PS I know we have some equipment lists here on the site but post any you might have as well. Thanks.

I thought more about it and I decided on "looting" my own house. The useful were the first 10 things that made it into the bag. (I assumed the food and medicine was spoiled and excluded complicated things like medical and tool kits)

Useful
Bottle 2 oz Cyanoacrylate (super glue)
AA batteries.
Digital Stopwatch
Instant Cold Pack
Bottle Iodine Prep solution (2 Fl oz)
Leatherman Micro (scissors)
Roll Aluminum Foil 250 Square feet
Index cards (pack of 50)
Kite String 250ft
Graph Paper pad 30 sheets.

These took some digging into drawers and closets
Odd
Heat Mailable Plastic (soft at 80+C Solid below that)
Precision Calipers
Box of 100 Single Edged razor blades.
Precision workstation (with grippers and magnifying glass)
300 Piece Jigsaw Puzzle unopened
Us-> Asia/Europe plug adapter (2), Asia/Europe-> US plug adapter (1)
2 Plastic Kali fighting sticks
Travel toothbrush with Micro toothpaste (courtesy of Korea Air)
Baseball Cap (Disney world logo)
Digital Scale (mixed with single edged razor blades i know i look like a drug dealer, but I actually use it to measure equipment for my database.)

More esoteric:
About 20lbs of lead soldiers
Brass Instruments: Tubax2, Trumpet/Cornet x 4, Trombone x 1, Baritone/Euphonium x 2 (total weight: 100lbs brass)
Gestetner Spirit Printer (uses spirit and special master copies: you write on the copies and roll them through the printer, each master can make about 1000 copies)
100 masters (50 black, 20 blue, 10 green, 10 brown, 10 red)
Epidiascope (projects pictures/books onto a screen or wall)

Me and Canadian Army have a been working on a bunch of random container stuff, if you want to add it.

The container rage for small size, ie briefcases and hand/shoulder bags, Medium containers, ie ruckssacks, backpacks and suitecases, and large one ie dumpsters, ULD and CONEX.

There are few cases in each size, so you can make do a dice roll to figure what case the PC will get.

Here is a few examples

PC: Hey Sarge I found his bag
Sarge: What in it
PC: Let see, two rolls of duct tape, a jar of hair(Human?) and zip lock bag of mushrooms.

PC: I wonder what in that dumpster
GM: Car Parts for 1977 Ford Pinto and four 2x4 of Lumber(Pine) and 1400 empyt beer cans.

Let me know if you want see what we have.

2 x Shemaghs
The other half’s kitchen blowtorch (sort you use to finish off a crème brulee)
Fire Blanket
Playing cards
Bic lighter
Tools for building model aircraft (gradually acquired over a number of years – I wont list them all but includes various tweezers, craft knives / scalpels / filler (putty) / hands free magnifying glass (sits on a small stand with crocodile clips attached to hold things)etc, etc

Unusual Things
Khanjar (Omani ceremonial dagger)
Arabic for dummies phrasebook
Pasta maker (hand powered)
Approx 20 unbuilt 1/48th scale model kits (mostly modern jets)
Federal Republic of Germany Flag approx 6 feet x 3 feet complete with the bits at the end to run it up a flag pole (don’t know what they’re called)
Printed and bound copy of the complete Alternative Survivor’s Guide to the United Kingdom by Dave Ross (sorry, couldn’t resist)
Artist’s easel, paper, and selection of acrylic paints (also other half’s)
Hi Viz Vest with “Fire” on the back
Sinclair ZX Spectrum 48K home computer (the one with rubber keys) that almost certainly no longer works plus various games (Manic Miner, Atic Atac, Jetpac, etc)
Dartboard and darts
Warsaw Pact Beret, exact origin unknown but I think it’s East German (it was bought in Budapest in 1996, and is a similar sort of red as a British Military Police beret

Cool. I'd really like to see it.

Ill post a excel file of my 2000 or so items that I have already databased as well.

I have come up with some interesting ideas about how to put them together. Like softskin items (bags, duffels, etc) have a base volume which increases as you add things to them.

I still need to work on some sort of system for rarity and cost, but as these are very variable I have not found a great solution for that yet.

Attached is an excel file with my data-based equipment. Strangely I mix KG and cubic feet, but that worked for me originally so I kept going with it.

Please note this database is centered of Morrow Project, so there are some things you are unlikely to see in real life, but what the project might use for reconstruction. Like 1kg cans of seeds and HDPE storage boxes for example.

The database can be viewed visually here.
http://games.juhlin.com/equipment/el...list_tree.html

The excel file also includes a list of categories and I would be interested in any suggested additions or modifications.

Default Random but useful... or not

Useful

Duct Tape (roll D100 for percent left; roll D6: silver (1-4) or olive drab (5-6)
(for T2013, additional battery sizes - AAA, button batteries)
US WW1 style steel helmet
Cross-country skies, poles and boots (2 sets)
10ft Jumper cables (two sets)
2 x 5-gal plastic jugs of gasoline
2 Shovels and 1 pick
3 reams of paper
2D6 ball-point pens (roll 2D6 for how many still work; if second roll higher, they all work)
1D6 felt-tip markers (write on anything)
various sizes cold weather gear (parkas, snow pants, good gloves, scarves hats etc)
Wide variety of sweaters (ugly to lovely, mildly warm to deep winter warm)
3 dozen safety pins (various sizes)
18-in chainsaw (gas-powered)
4-in Spotlight & battery recharger (plugs into cigarette lighter)
Roll of 33 gal trash bags (dark green)
Roll of 15-gal trash bags (while)
resealable clear plastic bags - gallon, quart, sandwich, snack size (waterproof storage)
1 dozen bungie cords
3 plastic storage tubs, ~ 2.5 cu ft each with matching tops
6 plastic gallon milk/water jugs with matching lids
5 dozen books of matches

Hmmm. This list is a bit winter heavy, but while you can always take clothing off in summer, two layers of light clothing (or the usual fatigues) won't help when its well below freezing with a wind blowing. I'm also always mindful of avoiding getting things cold and damp (that then stop working), as well as the ability to pack stuff.

Less useful

3 sets of downhill skis, poles, and boots
Swords - 2 broad sword, one cavalry sabre + 2 cheap reproduction swords (will break if used in serious combat)
Leather armor reinforced with Kevlar scales
Full Metal helmet (12-guage steel)
Round shield, wood with steel rim
1 Full sized portable grill - complete with a can of propane (roll D100 for percent full)
a dozen towels in various colors, including black (night camo), white (winter camo), tan, brown, and dark green (forest camp)
4 laptops in working condition
4 dozen wire hangars
2x 9-ft aluminum step ladders
30 ft of flexible rubber tubing
2x 20 ft garden hoses
3-cup coffee press
