Default Credit Where Credit is Due

One day a few years ago, Law sent me a PM about a thread. I had been writing about Thunder Empire. We were discussing farming in southeastern Arizona. Law wrote that he didn’t want to call me out in public, but he thought my ideas were far-fetched to the point of being silly. There wasn’t enough water in the area for agriculture. We passed ideas back and forth and eventually came to a common understanding. The point, though, is the Law made the effort to keep a significant difference of opinion on the low-down. We often think of Law as a bit of a hot head; but he was very cool about handling this difference of opinion. I thought I should give some credit where credit is due.

An excellent example for us all, myself included, of ways in which we can traverse better paths through which to exchange ideas. Bravo.

Law is one of those individuals we used to say about in the Army, "He's forgotten more than you'll ever know," meaning there's basically a military encyclopedia in his head. If you can keep him cool, you'll learn a lot from him.

Unfortunately it seems that it's difficult at best, to try and keep him cool.
It doesn't matter how much a person knows, if they treat everyone who doesn't meet their standards like an idiot, nobody will want to want to learn anything from them.

No kidding. There have been a few folks who have come in here slapping their "I'm active duty, and this is how it goes" pee-pees down on the table who have become sour when they don't get the adulation they expect. Some of them come around after a while, though.

This would make a pretty good sig, methinks.

lol

well, I thought that the original post was cool, although webstral is a mod and was deemed a "well respected poster" by many so maybe that was part of the reason.

If anyone has noticed, I try and keep my posts light and humorous. And I definitely *try* not to take anything anyone says on the internet too seriously, been in too many internet pissing matches to care anymore.

but what Rae said, that would be a pretty good sig.

Well said, all. I think on a game forum, we should probably keep things "light." Which is ironic, considering the game we all enjoy is incredibly dark...

I strongly agree with that. A question that remains unanswered for me is the original issue was resolved years ago - why raise it again now?

To give spontaneous positive feedback to a member of the forum who handled a disagreement in a creditworthy fashion. If it helps, think of raising the matter now as akin to a belated medal for valor. It's never too late to say something nice or give positive feedback.
