Whole lotta land around Los Angeles seems to be covered by nothing but ash. Got me to thinking about the City of Angels T2K module (widely criticised over its inaccuracy by many members of the old forum IIRC). One would have to assume that after the Twilight War cities like LA, with no organised firefighting services, would eventually be swept away in fire storms.

Howling Wilderness talks about several major fire events, most notably the destruction of vast stretches of forest in the Pacific NW due to wildfires. Australia (as I'm sure many of you know) is very familiar with the dangers posed by huge wildfires and pretty much all of Australia's major cities have at one time or another been threatened by big fires including our national capital, Canberra, which suffered major fire damage afew years back.

Yeah...I have wondered about that...with no organized fire-fighting at all...dry weather and lightning suddenly becomes a REAL problem...I suspect large parts of LA that were not destroyed by the strikes on the oil refineries are burnt to a cinder by various wild fires...makes one wonder just what the Mexicans are really controlling...if anything!

The first fires would be from the thermal effects of the nucdet/s. These would set a lot of the hills on fire as this is the fire season. What didn't burn in the first phase (think EMP effects on vehicles involved and blast damage as well constricting the routes) I think there would be arson and accidentaly started fires all over the city that while maybe not buring the whole city (concrete doesn't burn all that well and the freeways do make reasonalby good fire breaks) there would be significant destruction of the city. As I said in another post (Chicago) I feel this would be the case of ANY city targeted.

It is a well-known fact that the cities that have been nuked more than eight times attract all kind of interesting people. BTW, the rest of the country must be a quieter place.
