Another vehicle the party might encounter is the Alvis Stalwart, an amphibious capable truck designed to resupply British Forces in Germany without the need of bridges.

They'd been phased out by the mid-80s but many were moth balled.

Some might even survive to some extent as they could have foundered in the shallows of the Vistula and later been recovered by enterprising locals.

Plus good old PM has a write up of it on his site, T2K wise, they are very handy for transport vehicles.

I've always thought that with the addition of some armour plating the Stalwart would make a great platform for a gun truck...it just looks the part...

An old post, but worth clarifying.

There is a lot wrong with posts on Wiki, because anyone can edit a post. But mainly because Wiki's Keyboard warrior editors would rather support some enthusiasts website with incorrect information because it's got an official looking name than bother to read MOD manuals, etc on a website with no proper domain name.

The Stalwart were still on active service after 1990.
The MOD sold off a vast selection of petrol engine vehicles in 1993, including all the Stalwarts, Saracens, Humber Pigs, etc. This is shown in MERLIN database, which is free to download off the Gov website. No Stalwarts were kept in reserve, their having been stopped from swimming in 1982 due to the speed that modern military bridges can be built.

A company called A F Budge bought hundred of ex military vehicles.
These two photos show Budge's yard and fields. He also bought ex Swedish vehicles, etc.

Budge fitted a Perkins diesel engine in two Stalwarts, and demonstrated them to the Royal Marines - in the hope that the Royal Marines would buy some. No sales happened.

Budge's military vehicle side went into receivership later on.

Thanks for that info, Mark_Ellis.

A Stalwart or two make an appearance in the harrowing Bexhill 'Fugee Camp arrival scene in one of my favorite films, Children of Men.

I liked the Stalwart so much, I stat'ed it up and included it in my 4e* adventure module, The Poisoned Chalice.

In the photo above, I can ID a Chieftain MBT, a late-model Sherman, a bunch of T-34s. @All, what are the 3 vehicles from bottom to center-left (the tan one, green one, and rusty one)?

*To clarify, 4e rules, but universe history agnostic. I am a 1e history die-hard and imagine the plot playing out in that version of Twilight War Poland.
