By the way that railway station should have been gorgeous. And I'm not talking about the girls.

I noticed some of the work as well, especialy along the cieling which sadly is now falling in, what a waste. It kinda reminds me of the old station they have here in the desert, although they started to rebuild it and turn it into a historic landmark, but I have seen similiar in alot of the older style buildings as well.

And so, here is the question,

In the T2K world, would we see more buildings like that? Or would a building like that be filled with a few families taking refuge there and living in it as their home?

What? The girls are gorgeous?! Yeah...feckin hawt...lol

In all seriousness though, that site has a lot of cool stuff, and pictures of weird ass things.

Not to mention, that initial post, the railway station, is indeed really eerie...all overgrown like that.

Good point remind me of one thing also. How long can a building stand without care? I think a recent study had been made on this (civilian buildings of course). From memory I recall that a concrete building would live about 10 years. Skyscrapers would do better with their metal frames and glasses (about 50 years or so) but they have a very weak point (windows get easily broken: windy). Stone buildings will stand the longer when they are well made (a few centuries if i'm not mistaken). They are also the one that you can fix with more ease. Of course wood or mud houses tend to disapear quickly but they are also the easiest to keep in shape.

It all depends on where you are in the world with climatic conditions.

There are wooden and log cabins in California and other parts of the southwest that are over 100 years old, I mean that is how long they have been ocupied.

If there is heavy snow and it has a flat roof of wood it will either rot or colapse from snow buildup. A peaked roof will shed snow and debris more.

Concrete with steel reinforcing, if the metal is exposed it will rust which will cause the metal to swell and thus crack the concrete.

There are stone buildings here in the desert that are over 100, some 150 years old.

Buildings at former airbases in the desert have been abandoned since the early 90s, they still stand, same with some by March Air Base, they still stand and have been turned into an Urban War Center.

If the weather changes alot from winter to summer you may have more deterioration.

If an area is WET you will have more rot.

Earth Activity, soft soil, buildings will settle and slip off their foundations, or their foundations will crack.

Earthquakes, well in a T2K world without maintenance, and with the odd earthquake, say a good one every 10 years or so, give alot of the structures no more than 30 years before they would start to fall.

Floods, ocean activity, all of it would come into play. So, you have to look at what the climate and geological conditions are in your area or the area of your campaign.

Also, 2 things that also destroy,

Water/ICE. Water gets into places, if it freezes it causes cracks even in concrete.

Plants, their roots will crack concrete, or if dirt builds up and then seeds take root, they will destroy buildings and concrete as well, but it would be cool too. Imagine a house that is still there but a tree has started growing through its center?

Sure but finding the right picture might often take more times than writing the 1000 words. Moreover, words often say what is hided or faked by the picture .

I hope you were asking Jest, I have no illustration and no spare time to find them at the moment. Enjoy Jest.

I already saved a few of those pictures to incorporate into my Artic Raiders campaign. Since alot of the fortifications are on the coast they play in nicely with the games background, not to mention the place I had them train was an old fort. Plus those pictures of Russia, had alot of snow in the photos which also helped or so I intend it to give atmosphere for my campaign.

So, thanks!

I got it from one of my Marine discussion forums. I know all of a handful of words on the site, but it looks cool, bizare, strange, and I think it may be a real system in the t2K world!

That bike I bet you could mount a Mk 19 on the sidecar or maybe even something heavier! An assault motorcycle!

It says that they found a WWII T-34 engine in a cellar close to a shut down
red army base .being crazies (for the fun of it aparrently) they decided to make the biggest and most powerful motorbike known to man using it .

The shop is calle "ye olde Bike smithy"

or some such .

LOL! I love it. I thought the Dodge 10 cylinder motorcycle was the ultimate but these guys put it to shame. I wonder how many gallons per mile it gets?
