I have a BA in history, but except for one ceremony in the Army at Ft. Stewart where I was in a World War 1 uniform and equipment and toting an M-1903, no actual live re-enacting. (That uniform and gear were damned uncomfortable -- woolen, itchy, hot, and tight. I'd hate to have to fight in it!)

I did some American Civil War reenacting while I was living in California (a buddy got me into it...I don't remember what the unit was supposed to be) and some Frontier Army (both 7th Cavalry and 17th Infantry) while living in North Dakota.

I'd say its a bad idea to point a rifle (fake or not) at police.

Assuming that's what actually happened.

Regardless, it's sad either way.
