And then there were zombies...
I'm a big fan of the zombie genre, and Day Z is the zombie mod for ARMA II/Operation Arrowhead. I'm unfortunate in that I don't own ARMA II/Operation Arrowhead, but a standalone Day Z is coming out shortly before December.
But that's not what I came to talk about. The mod is all about surviving on the zed infested island. You need to sleep, find food, fight off bandits, and other riff-raff that happens to plague you. There are even vehicles you can find and drive. This could be done perfectly with T2000. Between hit detection for plugging those shambling corpses, to the food and medical attention required after getting plugged by a bandit. Any other thoughts? |

My first thought is that I own ARMA II and all the add-ons so I'm going to download Day-Z right now!

Ha! Lucky. I'm too cheap to buy the pack needed, because I know I'll never have the time to play it outside of Day Z...so I'm waiting on that standalone.

Yeah, but do they come in Lemon-Lime?
To paraphrase a popular 60's dessert commercial:

I like this book and think it has good ideas for a zombie campaign:
http://www.ospreypublishing.com/stor..._9781849083959 Most importantly, it covers five different types of zombies, not just the single type other books include. |

I bought the ZSG years ago, roughly when the original (There was a re-write or something put out) came out. I remember my parents said "You bought a book about surviving a zombie apocalypse?". I nodded.
I still tell them they can thank me when the shit hits the fan, and I'm in control of the situation. |

Plus, Max Brooks is kind of a dolt. Crazy to see Osprey, whom I usually associate with their usual well illustrated basic guides to battles and armies, is turning its attention to zombies.

Rather a shock to me as well, but it does fit the general gamer demographic of their audience.

So I don't know if anyone would be interested, but I'd be willing to run a simple PBP with one or two (though it really doesn't matter how many) people of T2000 v2.2 in the same vein as Day Z. On an island, little equipment to begin with, hunting for food and water, zombies and bandits.
I think my "story" for it is that the PCs are shipwrecked on the island, or maybe even shipwrecked troops returning from Europe via Operation Omega? The offer is out there if anyone is interested, just let me know! |

Cool. I'll start to set some stuff up on RPOL, unless there is some other medium in which you'd want to try to run it. PBP is the only real format of gaming I can work at this moment in time anyhow.

You can tie it into the Spanish Main module with ease...

Yeah. Though I'm leaning towards just having it be separate from the T2000 universe just for 'ease of access'. Using the rules and all that, but just having it be in its own little (island) universe.

Will the PCs be military folks, civies, or a mixture of both?
Every now and again, I get the hankering for some zombie survival game. Let me know when you have your game site up, M-Type, and I'll check it out.

Definitely civies (not active military), though having a term in the military is fine in my book. Character creation as normal, with the "war roll" just factoring when to stop your development. I decided not to go with a T2k tie-in, and I'll say that it still takes place in 2000, so you could have "real-life" events like Desert Storm as part of your character backstory.
My "idea" is that the PCs are all fisherman (of a professional or recreational variety is up for debate), and they get shipwrecked on "The Island". If you want to buy and give yourself gear that's fine, but it might not all...survive...the "ride" to shore. EDIT: I made the game, entitled "Twilight of the Dead" on RPOL. My username is M-Type there as well, so you should be able to search and see it. I set it down as an "Adult" game just to keep it relatively 'open', so I'll need DOB/Age etc etc from anyone wanting to play. I don't make the rules, I follow them! |

And a REALLY devious GM could IMPLY there were zombies even if none appeared (a marauder gang acting as them perhaps?)
A REALLY, REALLY devious GM could have real zombies appear after that... :-) |

Hah. I'll name the game Zombie Apocalypse on Zombie Island, and the PCs will never encounter hide nor hair of the undead
But they can still hear moaning. And eyes in the dark. But nothing's there. Mwahahaha. |

Well, zombies (originally called "zombi") were from voodoo (African/Haiti) lore, so that could work out mighty fine.

Is this going to involve a tiny ship called the Minnow? On a three hour tour? Where the weather started getting rough and the tiny ship was tossed? If not for the courage of the fearless crew the Minnow would be lost?

Dammit, figured out the campaign notes without even reading them! Alright, you get first pick on which Character Archetype you want to be.
