Pursuit and Evasion
kcdusk 10-26-2005, 06:26 PM How would you DM's out there roleplay a character pursuing another,
both on foot. I think the RCN skill should be used, and depending on how much they eat/sleep then there constitution will come into it. This will lead to questions like "do i stop and forage to get food, sleep to get some rest, or force march on for another 4 hours?". When the PC's dont know if they are catching or loosing time on their prey they will really have to think about looking after there characters while making sure they are still able to track him down without being too fatigued. But how would you rule this? For the NPC being pursued would you have them roll against there RCN. A failure would mean they only cover half the distance (say 10km) in that 4 hour period and that the PC doing the chasing gets to roll verse their RCN at an easy level rather than normal? In this way the PC is on the right track and also catching the NPC because they cover 20km in the same time. So my question is how would you roleplay/determine tracking and pursuit? ******************** |
