Default Where can I get one of these?

TiggerCCW UK 12-14-2005, 08:20 AM I know the AA-12 is mentioned in the Infantry weapons guide, but it looks like it may make it into service now. The specialised ammo looks interesting to say the least.

Badbru 12-14-2005, 10:03 AM Yeah I'm not surprised by this. I recently read a report on the effectiveness of current US fielded weapons which was compiled after interviewing over 1000 troops either currently in, or just recently returned from, Afganistan and or Iraq. On shotguns they concluded that there is a sufficiently significant demand for shotguns to be added as issue items to a wider diversity of units in the field. Most interview participants stated that their preferance though was for the shortest possible type if as a seperate weapon (pistol grip, no stock, and short barrel) or, as attached weapons fitted to the M4 mws. As their primary use was for "door breaching" and "room clearing". In addition they primarily wanted attached weapons or the smallest possible varient as they did not percieve the shotgun being their primary weapon in the combat zone and they are frequently in and out of a wide variety of cramped vehicles and unfamiliar buildings.

Even having never been in the same country as a combat zone, and having never served I think I can readily agree with them. I don't know just how small the CQB varient is but the standard modle looked a fair size and I'd hate to have to carry that and an M4, or worse still, an M16 around. I suspect they'll either stick with short pump shotguns for awhile or continue developing weapons like th "LSS" or "Masterkey" attached systems than adopt a full sized weapon like this one.

pmulcahy 12-14-2005, 11:12 AM Thanks! I copied that article with Adobe Acrobat for future use. The only thing I didn't like is that the source is Soldier of Fiction -- er, Fortune.

They have made this conclusion after practically every war since at least WW1, somehow it never happens though. :troutslap

Enforcer 12-15-2005, 08:33 PM I haven't read Soldier of Fortune for a while, since before I detached from the service in the year of 1986.
