The studio was screwed up.
The crowd that demands the family friendly format is the Evangelicals. Having the bad guy be the bible citing christian and the boy from the Hero's family be derisive of that. couple of million viewers just tuned out. Six episodes max.

The one thing I do like about it is that the bad guys are emphatically identified with gun control and disarming the populace -- very subversive stuff for Hollywod.
