My condolences Paul. Another member of the greatest generation gone, but what they did and the sacrifices they made will live.

She sounds like a lady who's lived a life with quite a number of stories, some of them painful but all of them worth listening to.

Not as such, but her parents were also partisans, against the Nazis, along with most of her village. The village was rounded up, and what happened to them is unknown, but there were no one left who my mother knew when the Americans liberated the camp.

Interesting note there -- my mother said that the first American she met sounded like someone trying to talk with a mouth full of bubble gum, but he didn't have any gum!
