Default Line Drawing database

Gary Gore posted this link on the Morrow project yahoo site.

http://www.the-blueprints.com/frontpage/

It has line drawings of thousands of vehicles and hundreds of weapons.

It requires registration (but no confirmation) and some sort of payment for vector drawings (eidtable in Illustrator or such) but line drawings appear to be free.

Below is an example of the FSV.

Any idea if they impose restrictions on inclusion in other works?

I'm thinking they'd make great illustrations for the various Vehicle Guides the DC Group will publish. Or is there a preference for actual pictures of the equipment? (such as ?)

I would say no given this
Quote:
1. I do NOT own these pictures.
2. YOU (probably) do NOT own these pictures.
3. I cannot give you permission to use these pictures, because I don't own them.

Apparently he just allows uploads without regard to ownership and protects himself by limiting users to a single printing of an image in his terms of use. That would most likely be covered by "fair use".

However if their source is a US government publication (which I expect the US military vehicles are) then these drawings would have already entered the public domain. I will take a look for sources and let you know what I find.

I do know that the the line drawings on my games server are in the public domain, but they are too small for your use.

This site has zero copyright, source, nor even contact information.

Other than saying that the fonts look to me like a Military Publication, I cannot offer any more information at this time.

It is an excellent site and you don't even need to register. It's in free access. Registration wil, however, give you access to a better quality of the blueprints.

I have been member of the blueprints.com for some time and found it an excellent source of material.
