Default Larc?

ChalkLine 11-16-2005, 03:02 PM Does anyone have game stats for the LARC amphibious vehicle?

ReHerakhte 11-16-2005, 04:08 PM The LARC-5, Paul's pages have stats for it, right at the top of the following page: -

http://www.pmulcahy.com/medium_uv/us_muv.htm

For some general info and pics, try: -

http://www.amphibiousvehicle.net/frame.html and navigate via the alphabetical listings (the LARC-5 has a general entry on the 'La to' page about 2/3 the way down and also a larger page with lots of pics).

As general interest (and because I personally am in awe of the LARC-60 and have an annoying tendency to go into information overload!)...

There were two other types of LARC vehicle, the LARC-15 and the monstrous LARC-60 (also known as BARC).

LARC-15 (somebody is selling one!) http://www.usasoft.com/Larc.htm

For more of the LARC-15, go to the same page mentioned above for the LARC-5, it's entry is directly below it.

LARC-60. By far the best pages for photos are at the same website mentioned above for the LARC-5 & LARC-15. Go to http://www.amphibiousvehicle.net/frame.html again and look under the 'Ba to' listing for BARC. It's the second entry on the page and again has some extra pages associated with it.

This machine is truly massive, capable of carrying 60 tons and in good conditions it's claimed it can carry 100! I read on a Vietnam forum once that a unit operating a BARC had left it on a beach overnight. They found out the next morning that they had some Viet Cong hiding within its bowels and they decided to shoot through the body rather than risk sending someone into the engine spaces etc. to flush them out!

Sorry for the excessive reply, the problem with being an amateur military vehicle enthusiast is that I like to share it with everyone!

Cheers,

Kevin
