Default New Game: Old School T2K using Reflex

Thought some of you might be interested to hear I'm starting 6 absolutely new players to Twilight. I am using a house rules timeline (95% v2.2) using the Twilight:2013 Rules (REFLEX).

I'll post updates as the new "rookies" play through the original (with slight changes) modules starting with old reliable "Escape from Kalisz" and then moving to "Black Madonna".

The 6 players include:

An Armored Cav Captain acting as gunner and commander of a Wiesel Mk20 with an NPC driver.

A Medical Captain in an ambulance version of an ALVIS Mamba MPV with an NPC driver.

A E-7 Gunny as the senior ground pounder.

A Brit infantry Sergeant

And two US Army NCOs, one a CBE the otther an infantry bunny.

Well see how the group does!!

Max

The committee demands updates. And character writeups.

Max,

Ha, rock and roll! Is this table-top or PBeM/PbP?

I'd love to hear how the system goes (I still prefer a slightly house-ruled 2.2 but I didn't give 2013 enough of a go) - please keep us updated.

[edit]: how are you handling weapons and equipment? Are you limiting some of the gun accessories etc. to fit into the era?

No game time yet brand new group so first night we finished up characters and ran them thru combat. Only tow had ever played T2K and their first impression was how deadly combat was and how important it was to get a decent initiative roll.

They were impressed but two of the 6 players were a bit intimidated by the "math heavy" rules but said they'de adapt.

We are set to play on 11/13 again. Unfortunately the game may not go anywhere. I just got a "promotion" at worka nd that may mean I'll be workign Saturday nights.

Ill definitely keep everyone posted.

As far as equipment goes I was pretty liberal with standard equipment because I'm running it as 2013 not 2000. They only got ONE thermal viewer. Weapons wise they all pretty much have M-4s with the gadgets (PAQ-4s, ACOG or REFLEX, forward grip and tac light). One PC has a 203 attached and another is carrying a SAW. The British sniper is carrying a L96 and I think he has an AK-74U.

Since they are a platoon from an armored cav. unit with an add on from a medical bn. they got a VBL M-11 and a Wiesel MK20. The medical attachment has an ALVIS Mamba MPV ambulance version.

The scenerio is its July 17th. Its 0300 hours and the unit just got orders to recon SE from the city of Wielun down hwy 486 to a small town of Kresczow some 10km away. Brigade HQ wants to secure the bridge there. The medical unit is coming along for humanitary aid purposes for the town and a LRRP unit was last in contact there two days ago. THey have lost contact witht he unit and Brigade is fearing the worst.

Max,

Ah... not T2K after all? The old bait-and-switch! You helped design T2013 so it's understandable you want to get some mileage out of your efforts.

If you pardon the expression, being a "gear queer" is a symptom of never have been outside the wire...

"Got some new gear."

"I can see that... This your first time outside the wire?"

"Why do you ask?"

Bait and switch indeed, Tony. I saw Max was starting up "Old School T2K" and it made my dick hard. Just a little. But, in reality it turns out that while it is "Escape From Kalisz" it's not really the 5th ID(M) doing the escaping and it's thirteen years too late. Whatever, at least I have another shot at a local game. Woohoo!

Max,

Well, saying you're going to run an "old school" Twilight 2000 game using v2.2 background is a different kettle of fish in almost every way from T2013. Still, I appreciate wanting to run a game using your Czech stuff. You poured your blood and tears into that, might as well get what mileage you can!

Speaking of running games, I'm going to be starting a play-by-Skype Morrow Project game for those who are interested in it. I posted in the TMP forum, those interested in participating can check it out.
