Apparently it was designated a military training area. Technically, members of the public weren't supposed to be there.

Which should just go to show you how often they use that beach for military exercises. Long enough the fence and the signs warning people to stay out rusted away apparently.

It must have been common knowledge that the public regularly use the beach. Maybe the Russian military were trying to send a message? Something along the lines of "if you use this beach for recreation, be prepared for and bunch of naval infantry to turn up from time to time".

Its funny no one went to the beach and posted new signs saying we will be doing a military exercise on so and so date so STAY OFF.
BTW anyone have the stats for that monster???
