Default So I'm hyped up about The Last Ship

Yeah, we've talked about it some before but I think it really could be a "T2k" TV show (now that we've no more Jericho - is Revolution still running?)

As insane as this is going to sound I'm actually OK with Michael Bay being the executive producer: while the show is about a breakdown of everything because of the pandemic, Bay at the very least (despite his addiction to explosions and Glorious Stupid in his movies) isn't afraid to show the US Military as decent, competent people - I realize that might be a turn-off to some folks around here but I'm looking forward to it.

Plus it's got Adam Baldwin!

Did anyone watch this. The T2k facebook page seemed positive about it.

Please avoid spoilers as I will probably marathon once it reaches netflix.

I watched it...looks good. But I am nervous its another Rising Tide series and will jump the shark in the first season.

Hopefully they make it more on land then on the boat...

Good stuff though, has promise.

There's a T2K Facebook page? I'm stuck on the couch for 6 weeks, that will give me something new to look at!

https://www.facebook.com/groups/twilight2k/

It is an open group but posting is restricted to approved members. PM the Owner to get membership.

If someone is really bored and looking for T2k stuff the yahoo groups have an annoying (IMO) layout but lots of posts.

It was busier in the past (just like here) but there is some good stuff in these

https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/twilight2000/info

I always thought that these were linked somewhere on this site, but they are not in the site map like I thought. I will be touching the sitemap thread soon so I will add all three to the related links section.

If you missed the premiere, it's being repeated tonight (6/25) at 11:05 PM Eastern on TNT. (shameless plug-I enjoyed the show)

Just hope it doesn't go the way of The Last Resort. So far everything is kind of a rip off of other series. Not too impressed.

Bruckheimer is German for "shark jumper".

Default Semi-OT: The Last Ship

Anyone here watching Season 2 of TNT's The Last Ship? Season 1 was good, and Season 2 looks good so far. Plenty of material from the show that one can use for T2K, or use for an alternate setting.

Yeah, it does have a T2K feel to it, down to the title. (The Last Ship / Last Submarine)
It is one of the shows I look forward to watching.

Well, The Last Ship (the novel) was set after a nuclear war so originally it was very T2k. I guess when they started production of the show they figured the idea of a nuclear conflict to be not likely enough to base a show around and/or wanted to avoid comparisons to the tragically short-lived Jericho.

Thoughts on Season 2 now that it's finished? And yes, they did get renewed for Season 3.

Only watched the first couple of episodes of Season 2 so far. Really should get on it...
From what I've seen so far though, it looks like they were headed in the right direction with the show. That almost certainly spells death for shows these days though.
Seems the more plausible and believable a story is, the more some exec wants to screw it up and get it cancelled.

However, one point I really thought was STUPID was using the dead as fuel. Just can't see how that could work even with the suspension of disbelief on overdrive!

From wikipedia
Quote:
On August 11, 2015 The Last Ship was renewed for a 13-episode third season, slated to premiere in the summer of 2016.

Me and wife were watching then I starting pointing out stuff and questioning stuff, so I ended up getting banded from watching it with her?

I'm sure there's a downside but I am just not seeing it yet
