Default T2013 zombies and fear mechanic......

Whilie looking for ideas to beg,borrow or steal, I noticed a T2013 Z campaign. Any ideas on the value of zombies?

I would have to ask if the characters are experiencing the outbreak or starting after the devastation has occured. The terror would be much greater if you have never seen the undead before. Imagine your terror if your presumably dead relative suddenly stood up and attacked you. If they have already survived the devastation of the outbreak; They will be "used to" the walking dead. In this case, I would assign "Threat Conditions" on the basis of numbers. Each Zombie being one "Threat Condition."

I don't have the rules with me, but I remember "X" amount for seeing "Y" number of corpses. Would zombies have more negative effects? I might need to add shrugging off center mass torso shots, losing limbs, burning, etc. The scenarios could run during and after the outbreak. I should start crafting roughs of said items. The Twilight games offer extensive combat and rebuilding rules, perfect for this genre.

The count I gave you could be "in addition" to the "corpse count." It springs from the character's knowledge that every zombie is a "bio hazard" equal to The Plague. Once again; This is assuming the characters have already survived the shock of the "initial outbreak." Threat Conditions per zombie during the "Initial Outbreak" would be MUCH higher. I might give a 9 or even 10 threat condition value for a relative that reanimates and tries to eat you. Each time you hit a zombie with what should have been a "disabling hit" and it keeps on advancing, you could add 1 threat condition. I would do this only during the first encounters with the walking dead. When the characters put one down; Subtract a threat condition. Once the characters "figure out" how to deal with the zombie threat; go to the one threat condition per zombie that I mentioned above. This is because the human animal will "habituate itself" to a "known danger." The greater the exposure to that threat; The faster a person will adapt to it. This brings its own set of issues though. That old saying "Familiarity Breeds Contempt" is applicable here.

Found the rules last night, yes I believe this could work. I play "State of Decay" on Steam and have some ideas for T2013 zombies. I'm thinking the contagion was benign until several mutations. This allowed it to be in command centers, shelters, etc. Then it suddenly turns 1 in 5 into zombies.(This is borrowed from a Steve Jackson Games thread on zombie campaigns.)

Another option is the "28 Days Later" scenario. This version of an outbreak is actually frighteningly realistic. The Soviets made several 1 ton lots of "Weaponized Rabies." In this version of "The Outbreak Crisis" the people infected have all of the same vulnerabilities that you and I do. They are faster, stronger, and more resistant to damage than a normal human due to a massive Adrenalin surge (part of the weaponizing process). You could "complicate" the player's lives by requiring them to "subdue" infected individuals at first. It would be very hard to subdue multiple infected individuals who are attacking you all at once. This could also be integrated into a Twilight campaign as a single episode as well. The good news is that there is an antidote for Rabies (even if it works at a reduced effectiveness against this strain).
