Thank you very much guys - was about to put it up myself but Marc sent the email out first - and yes I will be working on more material - and I was definitely honored when Marc said it would now be part of the Twilight 2000 canon

Here is the announcement

NEW For Twilight: 2000.

The East Africa Sourcebook. On DriveThruRPG.

From the deserts of Somalia to the Serengeti of northern Tanzania, the waters of the Indian Ocean to the jungles of the Congo, the East African/Kenya Sourcebook, the first new canon work for Twilight 2000 since 1995, shines a light on an area hinted at in previous works but never before detailed, where what is left of civilization in Africa struggles against the Somali Islamists, the PARA, the LRA and desperate pirates whose only mission is to take what they can from what still stands.

The Sourcebook contains a detailed order of battle for the American, French and Rwandan forces in the area as well as for their foes. A timeline is provided that shows how WWIII came to Africa, including the nuclear strikes that devastated much of the refinery production in Africa, leaving the refinery in Mombasa as the only hope for the Americans to provide the fuel that keeps CENTCOM supplied in their continuing fight with the Soviets in Iran. The continuing struggle of the French to build a new Empire from the ruins of Africa come alive in the Sourcebook, detailing their triumphs and missteps, including how they assisted the LRA to power in Uganda.

For those looking for new challenges and new adventures, the East African/Kenya Sourcebook provides them in spades offering everything from fighting a military campaign against the PARA and the Somalis, to convoy escort duty against pirates, to deep patrols trying to destroy terrorist bases or to find useable aircraft and supplies to keep AFRICOM going now that no more will be forthcoming from the United States. For those who wish to be mercenaries, either in the employ of others or building their own “kingdoms” in the ruins of Africa, there are opportunities a plenty.

http://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/...liate_rem=4209

FYI - the canon sourcebook has been heavily edited and revised from what was released here - added a bunch of information on the French, added the Rwandan forces, new maps, changes to the timeline, new pictures (mainly because of copyright concerns) and added details on the nuclear attacks and the convoy that brought troops to CENTCOM

So for those considering buying it, the final version is very different indeed from what was posted here several years ago

hope all of you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed writing it

thank you very much - want to thank this board and all its members for helping to keep Twilight 2000 very much alive

and for allowing me to post here over the last several years - without this board and the encouragement of its members I would have never even started the project, let alone taken it to where it is now official canon for Twilight 2000

And for those considering doing your own projects - I know Marc is looking for more material to add to the canon

Want to give credit to Raellus, Matt, Shrike6 and Paul as well along with Simonmark6, Tombot, Rainbow Six, raketenjagdpanzer and kato13 as well for all their inputs over the years to the original fan canon version and for their ideas that they posted here on various threads that assisted in the creation of the sourcebook as well.

Just checked Marc's site and its sold 55 copies in one day - goes to show how much interest there still is in the game

Congratulations, man. I know how good it feels to get your name out there on an RPG product, especially one you put so much blood sweat & tears into. It's also great to see T2k still getting new products out there: new real, for-sale products. Also also this will spur me to get to work on my own little corner of the world, the oft-delayed fully-detailed cantonment/settlement I was working on, plus unrelated to this board a long-put-off AD&D project...

Again, well done. Will it be available as print-on-demand at some point?

Its for sale at http://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/...liate_rem=4209

and pretty affordable too - $2.99

and thank you very much for the congratulations - much appreciated! And I am very honored that the Sourcebook is the first new Twilight 2000 canon material since 1995 (I see the 2013 material as a different timeline) - joining people like Frank and Loren as a canon writer for the game is something I never dreamed would happen when I played the game when I was in college. And Marc is looking for more material - already told me he is looking forward to seeing more from me.

Just purchased the sourcebook and had a quick skim through. My first impressions are very favourable, the detail is impressive as is the number of units covered. Well that's one of my Easter game projects covered
Thanks for an excellent product and hopefully with more to come.

My wife an I are highly impressed, I'm buying it ASAP. I've said for a while ALOT of the fan material here is canon worthy, and I consider quite a bit of it canon personally.

Thank you very much - many of those units are based on the real units deployed to the area by France already while others came from either Frank's notes on Kenya or Raellus and Matt and Shrike's notes from the archives. I fleshed them out with descriptions and added some of my own touches as well - especially the LRA units, the British Lions, the PARA and the Volunteers. And hope people enjoyed my bringing the 2nd of the 2nd Armored to Africa as part of the RDF reinforcement convoy.

Wanted to provide enough detail for those wanting to create characters from those units to give them a real backstory - and to allow anyone wanting to play the Red Team the same opportunity.

I have always thought the same - and it shows that the canon is not a fixed point in space that cannot be added to. Marc clearly wants more added to it that enriches it and brings new fans to the game and provide new ideas for the existing players.

And it has clearly hit a chord - 77 sales in just one day shows that there is a market and desire for new canon material for sure. I hope this encourages others who may have held back to see if Marc is interested in their ideas as well and have their material join the canon as well

The answer is that the version posted here some time ago was a fan canon version that was used to create the final released version. However there are significant differences between the two

I edited the timeline both to make it flow better and to correct errors in it as well as to add new events, especially concerning the French and what happened with them in Djibouti and the Indian Ocean Islands

I added new French units and added a whole new section detailing the Rwandan Army and Air Force, which had not previously been there before

I updated the pictures section showing only those pictures that are free for use and removed others that are copyrighted - which you cannot have in a published for profit module

I removed some units, revised the makeup of others and added or edited back stories that previously were not there

Add maps to show the situation going on in the Congo and Tanzania including what areas the LRA, Rwanda, Kenya/US forces and the PARA control as well as a small French enclave

Updated the description and reasoning behind why the French assisted the LRA in taking over in Uganda and what they hoped to acheive

Gave more information on how the 2nd of the 2nd Armored got to Kenya and why CENTCOM sent them there when they arrived

Updated and revised the Somalists, LRA and Kenyan sections

Thus its the descendant of the original fan canon product - but its been changed greatly from its original version seen here three years ago - and whereas the old version was just fan canon the new one is official GDW/FFE canon for the Twilight 2000 game

FYI the sourcebook has already sold a hundred copies in less than 4 days - that right there shows the continuing appeal of the game and the Twilight 2000 universe

Looking at several ideas for new ones - including possibly a collection of campaign ideas for use with East Africa Sourcebook - and hope this encourages others to submit their ideas too to Marc Miller

Honestly theres alot of content on here that should be submitted, in all seriousness. The cavalry and bicycle PDF for example, is one of my favorites. And the hexgrid map and index? How did all you older players make it without that!?

Thanks but there would be issues with the illustrations - if anyone has royalty free images that could be used please let me know (all will be credited)

That was one issue I had to solve with my book - in the end had to reject images I would have loved to have used of the Kenyan Army (including great pics of their tanks and aircraft) because they werent freely available - thats why you can see clear differences in picture choices between the fan canon and actual released approved canon book

what is fine for a non-profit non-official fan canon book is definitely not allowed for a for-profit canon release
