By the end of WWII, some PT boats carried an impressive armament. Most retained the four .50's through the war. The stern 20mm gun was moved to the bow and a 40mm gun was mouted at the stern. In the Pacific, some boats were fitted with the 37mm guns salvaged from wrecked P-39 fighters. You might also find a 81mm mortar or 4.5" rocket racks on the bow. The torpedo tubes were replaced with roll-off racks, but eventually torpedoes were rarely carried. However, the racks were used to deploy depth charges - - not to attack subs, but to dissuade pursuit by surface ships like destroyers.
