A LAV yes: I've seen a LAV rolling around in downtown Frederick Maryland a few months ago. Dunno why it was, but it was. Didn't have any problems with the traffic either.

When our group had business in Krakow, we left the heavy stuff outside the city, but laagered in a village under guard. We just used the Hummer, UAZ, and MTLB to drive into town to conduct our business. And on two occasions when ammo was purchased for the vehicles, we just designated a place outside town for the meet, because everyone was coming to those two events, to guard against a double-cross. The Hummer, btw, did mount a Ma Deuce, and we had no objections from the ORMO about mounting the weapon or using it if necessary.

Years ago I was taking a creative writing class at the local college. We had to write a short story based on a life event, I wrote about a field operation from my USMC days- "We laagered on top of a hill.....". The proffessor had to look it because she'd never heard the word.

There are a series of forts around Krakow built in the Austro-Hungarian days. They make perfect places to hole up your heavy gear before visiting Krakow.

Hmmm. We have been using Google Maps to track the party movement in the 'real world'. So finding these forts would be very possible.

If you Google Krakow Forts, plenty of links will come up. I doubt that the GDW boys knew about them otherwise I'd bet they'd have used them either as ORMO outposts or bandit bases. They are perfect hideouts so I'd bet someone's using them...

I have the bandit group Cutler (?) hangs out with using an old fort as one of thier caches. I used the floorplans from an AD&D module and boobytraped the heck out of it.

Good thinking. And you were correct, it is Cutler.
